You have to take it to a person who can verfy the firearm is infact changed meaning they give you a list of people in your area who can look at it and say yes you put the non restricted barrel and it meets the condtions. Once you do that it can take a day to several weeks to finish. I did have them move 1 from non restricted to restricted on me I was like the long gun is dead wait a minute I don't even own that firearm anymore it's non restricted and was before the registrey died so that's a mistake on your side. They fixed it but still I was like why is there still a record of it?
I know the procedure! And mine was done over the phone by the Superviser. My gun was done years before the registry was canned. I was wondering what would happen today if you ran into a RCMP tech like I did where they might refuse the reclassification to NR status for whatever reason. I believe the guy knew what he was doing and was only forcing upon me his own idea of what is right and wrong when it comes to NR and R firearms.
He exercised his power over me only because he could. In the end the reclassification is approved/disapproved by them and we know they don't always go by the Law or the book so to speak. The Verifier only gives the information about the firearm to the RCMP; the RCMP still hold the power to approve or disapprove the change.
