Is an SKS an "assault" rifle?

No it's not. Only the military and police are allowed to have select fire weapons. Most news reports about firearms types are written by people who either don't know what there talking about, or want to sensationalize their article by filling full of misinformation.

unless my german fails me- storm rifle- nothing to do with assault or devil
Not trying to make a big scare etc. But I believe we will be seeing a lot more of this in future news "stories." I use the word "stories" because that's pretty much what they boil down to. In the news they emphasized on the "assault rifles" and how kids could hurt themselves, but forgot to mention more than once the drugs and stolen money... Oh and the scooter... What if a kid started it and rode it without a helmet! Pure chaos! At the end of it all the RCMP have been and are going to keep making a push to rid all semi automatic rifles.

Insulting that people buy that commie crap and talk about them as if they're an elite level ArmaLite or Bushmaster... 
It`s not a magazine-fed automatic weapon, therefore, no. It`s a world war 2 era relic, that`s it. I`ve already sent an email and asked the to correct it, but it doesn`t help much, when the idiocy of the RCMP, is labeling every other firearm wrong anyway...

In these two images. I only see one "Assault Rifle".
