Is an SKS an "assault" rifle?

No such thing as an assault rifle....it's a term made up by the anti's. You have civilian firearms and service firearms....that's it. So I'm fine with them banning assault rifles, along with unicorns and leprechauns and the moratorium on shooting sasquach.

OP is just looking for something he can use against us. That's all. Just ignore the trolls.

I did shoot a real assault rifle in Michigan, Romanian AK47 with a 30rd mag. Fun stuff. Too bad we can't get any assault weapons in Canada.

How many threads do we have to see from '1st Posters', on the same misrepresentation of the SKS rifle? Why ask stupid questions when everyone knows the right answer anyway?

Mods, delete this garbage.
I've said it before, this place is crawling with anti's.....

Actually, as several have pointed out, there IS such a thing as an "assault rifle" (Sturmgewehr). The made up term is "assault weapon."

And I live in BC and would like to retain my right to defend myself from Sasquatch if necessary. I am sure folks in Ottawa would also like to retain their rights to protection from the unicorns pouring out of Justin's butt.

No way is the SKS an assault rifle!
I've always been of the belief that the only assault rifles are full automatics or select fire rifles which are only legal for the RCMP/Police/Military, yet another example of the Liberal media using scare tactics on the general populace.

After reading some posts, you gotta love how there are retards on both side of the argument though huh ?

"Guns with clips and or knives attached are assault rifles!"

"There is no such thing as an assault rifle!"

And considering the person saying the ladder should be a little more read up on guns and classifications, I can't decide which is worse :D

Perhaps all newbies should have their first 20 or so posts "pre-approved" by moderators. It's dumb questions like this that create problems or issues that put us on the defensive... and in this case, potentially a troll looking to stir up controversy.

The problem is so many people are divorced from reality it hurts.
I guess a Lee Enfield and Mausar are assault rifles too, didn't they use those to jump out of trenches with and rush the enemy with in WW1?
The Vikings had assault hammers and axes. :runaway:

The funny thing is that even by the hideous system the Liberals invented, (and then scrapped in favour of the highly scientific "Ooooh that looks scary") for "scoring" "bad" guns, the SKS doesn't make it to the banned list. No pistol grip, no detachable magazine, no 'high' capacity' no folding or telescoping stock and no 'flash hider'. It gets 5 points for the bayonet, the threshold for "bad gun" was something like 20.

They were both so good at it that they came back for more in WW2!

An SKS is an SKS...some people love them and others don't. To each their own. Personally I, like many others, love and enjoy using the SKS. We all know the media uses trigger words for emotional reaction(s). It's how they stay in business these days seeing as there is very little substance to most everything they "report."

Isn't full auto, no pistol grip, no interchangeable magazine, no barrel thing that goes up. NOPE

I think even the SVT 40 is more assault rifle than the SKS

watch out !! she is a very dangerous special opps agent with an assault rifle...going to buy eggs at the market. LOL.
