One look in the reloading manuals usually tells ya which gunpowder is best for you depending on what you're after. I am still wondering who I gotta blow or kill to get Alliant gunpowders these days...

Unfortunately it's a sign of the times that ya burn what you can lay your hands on...and one of the suppliers was singing the praises of Vhita Vouri or whatever it is. It's expensive and I don't know anything about it. These days I buy everything in bulk so I don't want an 8 lb. can of powder that is no good.

Would any of you fellas have burned it in .45 LC?

VHT makes a full line of powders, starting with a fast pistol powder as fast as bulleseye and then slow rifle powders goof for 50 BMG.

I have used all of them, in quantity. I used to buy it by the case, four 8 pounders to the case.

For 45LC I would use 320, 330 or 330. It burns very clean and measures well.

That said, This is what I use for 45LC 7 grains under a 255gr lead bullet.

I have been using N340 for 9mm after getting a decent deal on a 4lb jug. It gives high velocity with fairly small charge weights, the thing I like most though is how cool the powder seems to burn.
