I had a chance to handle a few different models of Tanfoglios ( Ultra Match, Limited Custom, and the basic Witness) while in Europe and was very impressed. The fit and finish was superb and the grips fit me quite well (hard to say for double stack mags, given my small-to-medium sized hands). I am eagerly awaiting Freedom Ventures to release pricing but damn was I impressed.
Didn't they make a CZ style knock-off pistol? Buddy had one when we were all getting first generation CZ-75's in 9mm [way back in the early '90's]. Anyway, his shot like a house on fire. Seemed to be well made & functional. I think he still has it, too...
Yeah, the Tanfoglios seem like refined CZ copies. My bud with the three Tanfoglios showed some of the targets he shot with his and they were rather impressive (IIRC, his 45acp Limited Custom shot into less than 2inches, outside to outside - he was VERY proud of his targets). Now, these are by no means highly refined STI-grade pistols but damn if they aren't very impressive. This means alot coming from me given that I am not a big CZ fan (I am still debating an SP-01 though...).
Right now, price will be the dictating factor on the Tanfoglios because I know I will love em I asked Sean when he was getting his shipment and he wasnt sure 2 weeks ago (nor would he give me pricing) but that might have all changed by now...
some of these guns are SA, some are DA. Many have ambi or reversible controls. Most are available in a slough of calibres. I am not sure which models and calibres FV is getting in...
but damn was I impressed.
