You can use Waldog data or 220 Beggs data. Search benchrest.com there are lots of loads. 52 grain bullet and Benchmark, H322, or N133 will do it. Not sure what you would use for heavy bullets.

You can get Wilson 220 Russian seater and sizer, both are hand dies. Not sure where to get threaded dies unless you have someone ream them. If anybody has them off the shelf Redding might, try Sinclairs.

I have shot a 220 russian in competition for close to 10 years . About the only negative thing I can think of is the bolt thrust the brass taper will likely produce for you.
That will probably cause a slight problem in opening the gun after firing. (Click over when the bolt is opened). Some guns are better at handling this than others. If you are going to have a reamer made pay attention to the dimensions as Lapua brass doesn't match SAMMI standards. Have the reamer made to match the lapua brass. Dies will be a custom venture. Bullets and powder are no problem. Brass should be Lapua. This cartridge is wonderfully accurate and ideal for case capacity.
More than one or two top competitors in the benchrest game play with the 220 Russian.

the 6ppc is by far the most popular Short range benchrest cartridge in use today there is a ton of data and info on it out there. Make sure you check to see wether your rifle has a tight neck or not. Good chance it is tight if it was a custom built gun.

Go to Sinclair international's web site, contact them they will email / mail you step by step instructions or you can buy my brass already made..... expensive though the rifle goes with it.
I don't shoot it very much and i'm thinking of clearing out some of my pieces.

p.s. even fireforming loads in mine shoot under .2 ", first set of fired brass i was a little disappointed in they shot .350 ish, then i dawned on me i was at the 200 yd table not my usual 100 for load testing.

is the 6PPC in a factory gun or a custom build?

The only brass to use for it is Lapua 220 Russian. Neck it up to 6mm and then neck turn for your chamber neck size.

The usual bullets are in the 66 to 68 gr range with a case full of VV 133. Benchmark and H322 can be used as well and loaded accordingly.

It is currently the WINNINGEST short range cartridge out there. It is a joy to shoot.

If I were to build the ultimate in accurate varminter it would be it or the 6BR.

are you going to dust that PPC of yours off and do some shooting this year?

Western Nationals in Regina Aug long and ALberta Proviuncials Sept long.

I will be at both. May have to visit my banker but I am not missing those 2 shoots. Was hoping to go to the July long shoot in Alberta but work schedule conflicts.

Hope to see you there.

j m ru, go to http://benchrest.com/articles/artic...PC/Frank-Murphy-on-6PPC-from-220-Russian.html There is a article there that will tell you exactly, step by step, how to make 6ppc brass from .220 Russian brass. As previously posted, get .220 Lapua brass from Hirsch Precision(Peter Dobson), use Vhitavouri N133 powder, if you have a 14twist bbl, shoot 65 to 70 gr bullets. Dan Opel in Drayton Valley makes a good custom br 66 gr bullet. Use Federal 205m primers if you can find 'em. Good luck.
cheers

Calvin,

I will be shooting this year. Not sure which matches, but will be making some of them.

Just bought a Swindlehurst, but found a Viper shortly after. Need to sell the Swindlehurst now! Let me know if you have anyone looking out your way for a BR rifle.

Back to the OP, you shoudln't have to trim for oal much, if any, to use the 220 Russian in a 6PPC. I never bother.

Beware the factory size 6 PPC they are typically different from the custom 220 russian sizes and will still need to be worked.
Mine are built from .220 russians and end up with a .262 Neck.
I believe the Factory 6 PPC's are called "PPC usa"

The trigger is around 1lb. Just touch it and it goes off.
I've got some ammo with the rifle. The neck is 0.261 in fired and .2615 unfired rounds. I shot 9 rounds and only 6 rounds left :(
Shot cases are different :
1.454, 1.456. 1.45, 1.455, 1.452, 1.456, 1.49, 1.471, 1.462.
What is correct size of the shell or it is depend on the rifle?
Can i just take new 220 Russian brass, size with 6mm pps die, load it, shoot and trim to necessary size or it has to be sized with 6mm die and trimmed before shooting?

here to find exact dimension of 6mm ppc case or it differ by every rifle.

No. You will need to neck turn the brass to fit the chamber, before it is ever fired. You have what is known as a tight neck chamber. You have a lot of reading to do here to find out what is required. Hard to explain in one message.

When you say trim, do you mean neck turn or trim for overall length?
