is big bore stuff worth it

Depends what your doing if you FT or a paper puncher no but if you want to try hunting yes, but big bore are mostly for fun and long range.
but a .50cal airgun can take a buffalo down.

I've owned a Jack Haley .457 PCP air rifle for a year and a half now.

I've shot from 340 to 515 grain "pellets"....................errrr slugs out of it.

It is a beast, it is not quiet by any means. These air rifles are used to hunt wild boar, deer, etc. It will reach out to 150 yards easily.

Here is a video of one of my sons shooting it using a 515 grain hollow point slug.

They are a lot of fun to shoot, but remember you will require a high pressure tank to fill a PCP.

Cheers.

I thought I'd post on this thread again for those interested in Big Bore airguns.

What a coincidence! Yesterday I received a phone call from Reba Haley at Southern Airguns. Jack and Reba Haley build and sell PCP air rifles hand built by Jack.

As mentioned, I bought my .457 PCP Jack Haley almost two years ago. Reba recalled I was Canadian and had some questions about our recent LGR changes as they are building a gun for a guy in BC.

Anyway, Reba mentioned that their guns took 1st and 3rd at the 2012 LASSO event early this year. The one fellow that took first was using a .257 JH. He was shooting at silouettes at 300 yards!!!! With an air rifle! WTF

Another shooter was reaching out to 375 yards with his JH.

When I got home I did a search using my friend Google and found a thread on the 5 shot 300 yard group!

Man, I wish I could shoot like that with my centerfire powder burners!

For those interested, here is a link to the Southern Airgun home page. The Scanalous model (which was used to win 1st) is shown on their site. Plus Jack's other PCP's, including his .58 cal monster! My .457 is shown in one of the gun photos, as Jack takes a photo of every gun he builds and adds it to the list of photos.

Before I started to cast my own 340 gr hollow point pellets, I used to used Mr. Hollow Point pellets. Here is a video he posted of him shooting a .45 and what it did to a hog!

I have an airforce condor 25cal and a 22 barrel as well, though the 25 is fun I use the 22 the most with the pressure down to keep noise down. The fun with the 22 is the amazing accuracy on little pest and such while keeping it quite. The 25 cal is louder than a 22 id say
