Is building ar 15 feasible in canada?

Just a little off topic here but what tools are need to assemble an ar from the ground up?

Depends on the type of rifle.
The 3 I have built have all been classic style AR's. an M16A1 an A2 and a classic carbine.
Basically in this form at a minimum for a full butt stock rifle like the A1 or A2 style you would need: an upper receiver vice clamp to hold the upper steady, a barrel nut wrench and a small torque wrench with adjustable ft lbs setting.
It doesn't hurt to have a small set of long straight punches to drift in some of the roll pins. A couple of crescent wrenches and a small hammer to tap some pins into place and a phillips screwdriver for the pistol grip.
If you're going to build a carbine with a collapsing stock then you will need the buffer tube nut wrench as well but I've seen dudes just snug it up and then use a brass punch and hammer to hammer rotate it snug up against the rear receiver plate.
That's about it. Everything else is just pointless crap to separate you from your money Sir.
There are detailed youtube videos galore by respected US builders walking you through every single step as well. It's very simple if you're even a bit mechanically inclined (even if you're not with the youtube videos now).

And agreed.
Except for I keep trying to find my AR15 unicorn in Canada: a 20" pencil barrel with gas block pin holes with a 1:9 twist :(
The only one I ever saw was on the older DA556 chinese clones.
I've even debated paying the $600 for one just to take the barrel off and put it on my M16A1 clone :(
Then I look on the US sites and they are giving them away (DPMS etc) for under $160 US.....fack I hate the market in this country.

Your barrel is on top of the ee right now. Good luck

I finally just put my 'Mostly Canadian' AR build together a few weeks ago! its an NEA, Dlask, S&J 'frankenAR' with some Daniel Defense, Magpul and Noveske bits thrown in for good measure lol. I didn't use and 'special' tools...

'Paycheck to paycheck' every few weeks I just bought a few parts off the EE, ebay or when they came up on sale at and site sponsors SFRC, Wolverine, etc. Collected everything up and tossed it all together, and it shoots fairly accurately and reliably for what I use it for!
