Is Bullseye always dirty?

So, I loaded up some 230gr 45's yesterday with Bullseye. I normally use Power Pistol, but I find those a little too flashy and wanted to try something else. I started at the bottom of the scale with 4.0gr and did another 50 rounds at 5.0gr. The 4.0's were too light and caused cycling issues, but the 5.0 performed really well. I noticed that the cases on both of them were black though, and I've never seen my gun so dirty after 100 rounds.

Is this common with Bullseye? I used the same taper crimp that I have always used with the Power Pistol. Is there something else I may be doing wrong?

Edit: I'm seating the bullets at 1.275" and using CCI Large Pistol Primers

I'd say Bullseye is dirty. Used to shoot a lot of 9mm lead cast 125gr in my CZ-85 pre-B with Bullseye. This was the dirtiest/filthiest combination I have experienced.

I'm not trying to be 'funny' but does it really matter? Its a pistol, not your wife's fine china. After firing 38 Special loaded with Bullseye and Titegroup, I'll be damed if I can tell the difference.

No, doesn't matter at all as long as it's normal. I was afraid that I had done something wrong and it wasn't burning properly.

I was really happy with how it shot with 5.0gr.

I loaded some with 4.7gr of Titegroup this evening. We'll see how those go.
