Is Bushnell still servicing/warranty these ?

It's a 1.5-4 Banner it's got the Japan stamp on bottom of the tube.

But it doesn't hold zero anymore. Had a suspicion, took it of a period correct centrefire rifle and put it on a rimfire 322 Norc.

After sighting in (moving the windage/elevation adjustment) it was good for 6-7 rounds, .22 LR, 1/2" groups at 30 metres.

After that it went all over the place. I mean 4-6 inches either direction. And No, there's no mounting issue...

Does Bushnell still honor warranty for these or should I just scrap it ?

I would try. See what they say. Best case they will replace it with a new low end product of similar magnification.

The "Elite" Bushnell scopes are a similar turn off but worse. Non consistent eye relief, lousy visibility/sharpness,... But hey, it's being pushed/phished around here.

Bushnell lifetime warranty doesn’t mean it is for our lifetime. It’s for the lifetime of the scope. If they say a scope is only supposed to last 5 years that’s its lifetime. Warranty isn’t as great as it sounds.

If you’re tossing out slags against the 6500 models right after asking about warranty for a scope made before the catalytic converter was a thing, tells me two things.
1. You’ve never used a 6500 series scope. One of the toughest scopes ever made.
2. Your wallet’s hinge is mostly rust by now.

Send Bushnell an email and see what they say. If you're lucky maybe they replace it with a modern equivalent? Could always sell that and put the money towards something else.

Send Bushnell an email and see what they say. If you're lucky maybe they replace it with a modern equivalent? Could always sell that and put the money towards something else.

I bought my first 6500 a 2.5-16x50mm mildot when they came out and it was $80 more ($830 vs $750) than the then top of the line Leupold VX-3 3.5-10x50mm B&C. The feature advantages were way in favour of the Elite 6500:
👁30mm tube vs 1”
👁2.5-16x = 6.5x Zoom range vs 3.5-10x = 3x Zoom range
👁Side focus parallax vs fixed parallax
*I can’t remember if the VX-3 came with a sun shade, the 6500 has a substantial shade close to 4” long.

I own a VX-3 (on my CZ527LH .223) as well and based on my hunting buddies comparing them side by side the 6500 was chosen by all 8 guys. The 6500 is on my A-Bolt II LH 280 Rem.

Of the oldies I find the Redfields hold their prices better. The more of them I see the better my opinion of them is.

Newer scopes have the "lifetime of the scope as we see it" not-so-lifetime warranty
and indeed, old 3200, 4200, 6500 models made in Japan are still great to have

Here, I fixed it.

Can be taken apart with a small Swiss knife and the cork opener screw driver.

I screwed off the ocular first and used it as a jeweller's loupe.

Scratches around countersink holes and mulled screw heads indicate this thing has been worked on before.

Folks, be careful if you buy things like this. There's a high probability, you're getting stiffed !

bushnell has their "ironclad lifetime warranty". Basically they say the life of a scope is 30 years. you could try and send it to the USA to see if they send you something back, but I doubt they will.
