Is Bushnell using a new Designation?

The scope was listed as a 4200 2.5 - 10 by 50. The model is E2105. There is no designation on the box nor the scope suggesting 4200 but the word "ELITE" is used.
Has Bushnell moved away from their 4200 line?
Is this scope comparable to the 4200 or is it one and the same based on the 4 times increase in power from low to high?

Bushnell has dropped the 3200 and 4200 designations.

Their new Elite is essentially the 4200 model, with minor mods.

95% light transmission, which is about as good as physics will allow for...despite all hype from most makers that theirs transmits more than any other brand.

The 4200 series was, IMHO, an excellent scope, and I've no doubt the new "Elite" will continue to be.

The equivalent of the 3200 Elite would now be the Trophy XLT line.

What used be the 4200 Elite is now just "Elite".

All Bushnell "3200" and "4200" scopes have those specific designations inscribed on them, generally around the objective bell. These were discontinued in 2011.

The covers for the adjustment dials on my 3200 3-10x40 Compact scope are marked "Elite 3200".

When I completed the registration the E2105 desgnation was not given as a choice.
An email to Bushnell failed to answer the question.

Perhaps it is invenereal . . . up my testicle!

Actually the 3200 and 4200 are merging. The Trophy XLT is still a step below what used to be the 3200.

Trophy XLTs are made in Korea and are noticeably worse than the 3200, 4200 and the new elite, which are all made in Japan.

Trophy XLT remains the Trophy XLT
3200 Elite becomes the Elite
4200 Elite becomes the Elite
6500 Elite remains the 6500 Elite

Not knocking my Leupold VX-III 4.5-14x40 without AO.

Just think the 6500 Elite is better. I like the range in power of the 2.5-16x42, the side parallax adjustment, the 30mm tube, the Rainguard feature, and what I think is sharper and brighter glass...all things considered, for a relatively decent price.

I've owned a number of Bushnells, and I think they're underrated.

Regarding the 3200...

Light transmission on these was roughly 91% (multicoated), compared to the 4200 at 95% (fully multicoated).

There was nothing in the 3200 that could be "merged" into the new Elite that the 4200 series became. The 4200 was optically superior in every respect, which is why it cost considerably more.

The Trophy XLT, also rated at 91% transmission, is the closest equivalent with respect to optical performance to the 3200.

Still completley different and the old 3200 is far closer to the new elite than the trophy XLT.

Rainguard (coatings), place of manufacture and the tube.

The Trophy XLT is a huge step down in quality, light transmission is only a small part in optics.

I deal with the western Canada Bushnell reps often (I order stuff for a gun store) and have had a talk about this. The new "elite" is the merging of the 3200 and 4200 with the quality of the 4200. Notice how then new elite tactical has a fixed 10x with target turrets and a mildot? Exactly like the old 3200, but now with better optics. They are merging the lines and the Trophy XLT has nothing to do with it.
