Is deactivation the route to take?

I had the two pistols shown in the first photo for sale on CGN for quite some time----no interest.

I decided to get them deactivated and send them to Collector's Guild in NB.
They only deal in deactivated guns. They sold quite quickly---(in U.S. dollars)

The first gun that I bought on CGN was from a fellow in NL. It had been deactivated by the previous owner.
I bought it because of the KM markings on the pistol and the holster.
I sold it quickly at Collector's Guild in NB.

===============================================================

I only have three very nice pistol rigs left in my WWII collection ---and I don't really want to deactivate them.

-A 1937 dated Luger with 1937 dated holster and two matching serial numbered magazines. (A vet bring back--I have all the info)

-An ac-42 P.38 with a rare dated holster.

-A M1911A1 Colt rig bought from the son of the vet that brought it back.

What do you think?

It is not the only way - you can sell to an exempt individual or to a business. Problem is exporters won't pay you what the guns were worth here before the freeze.

In the end they are your guns to do with as you wish. It would be a shame to get them deactivated - p08 with both matching mags are rare... I know a guy in Europe that buys guns here and exports them out and he can only do it because he combines shipping/export and it's still a massive expense.

It’s a Crime. And this Collector's Guild in NB are criminals.

They've been at this for a while with other prohibited guns from Canada. Now we'll start seeing it with handguns... You really want to cry, go find the thread where a guy brags about buying the last documented Canadian FAL made and deactivating it.

There is a fellow (that I know) that buys P.08s and exports them to the U.S.
He is a member on CGN.

These are the three WWII guns that I still have.

FYI---my experience with Collector's Guild has always been positive.

Deactivation is no doubt better than the smelter , although both options sound kind of sad ; unfortunately , it is the world in which we currently live , and we are only the caretaker of things while we are still alive .

Do you have an auction in mind to send them to already? If yes, any FFL can fill out a form 6 for import including curio and relic collectors. You can also use Borderview or Simpsons for their experience doing so.

If you just want to send it to Gunroker, IRunGuns has a service doing just that.

Not that it's 100% successful - sometimes things go sideways. I'm not 100% sre the 10mm Zastava is going to be importable.

You can't take them with you wherever you are going?
Since you are leaving the country, these are great candidates for 'storing with a friend' aka very extended lending (arrange with a friend for whatever security deposit you may require ;) )

Contacted Simpsons, thanks for the heads up. They trade in collectible handguns, so seem like the best fit to deal in something like this.
The Zastava is probably not importable as it lacks any sort of safety.
