Is excessive Logging , hurting the bear pop in your area

Road deactivation is common in BC, for a variety of reasons including wildlife management.

Thanks Gatehouse, I had incorporated some pretty good case studies from out west...think it would make a difference here. Will see if I can find even more.

Would love to see the same start happening this way. Probably the only recourse that gets numbers up in some locations

Very common in Alberta. To the point where often times the entire block, or even series of blocks, is rendered inaccessible to any vehicle traffic, all the way back to a main road. This is a complete removal and reclamation, which differs than most of the deactivation in BC, where at least some resemblance of a road remains, albeit with culverts pulled and or cross ditches installed. This probably has to do with access, and public/private land ratio, and policy differences, among other issues, of course.

So what's the consensus? Is logging exterminating all the bears?

well depends who you listen to . I will say this, IF Joel who the big presence he says he is .. is a fool for what he has said and the comments are inexcusable .. NO excuse for a professional
Does logging hurt ..yes in winter you can't help but kill the young/moms
IF you look at his comments and ridicule ? you trust him with our enviro and wildlife ... good gwad I hope not

Just look at his avatar ..says a lot actually

Definitely going the extra mile.

Lol the psycho who makes up stories about how people got terminated from imaginary jobs so they stop talking and threatens people via PMs says I'm unprofessional.

Its actually a really good thread with a lot of info exchanged and good convo between literally everyone else.

You have been told repeatedly, by active and non active professionals, that this is next to an impossible occurrence. Do you have any factual information that this has ever happened?

R.

you and Chuck ask always " is there a chance " . the ones actually doing it . what do you expect ... put some real stuff behind what you say or go stay with Joel .. Told repeatedly ? by whom.. you are like a wart on m big toe

It makes sense, given how little actual public land there is here, as compared to BC. They do shut down large chunks of road in the winter, and by eliminating any vehicle access into these logging cuts, it does limit the exposure to a lot of hunting activity. Once logging is completed here, you very seldom get to drive/ride into that cut. This, and a mandate to reduce the seismic line width to help with predation are also reasons for sure.
Lots more going than running imaginary bears over with pretend logging equipment...

You have been told exactly this by at least three people on this very thread. Can you not read?

But not you , so in other words , YOU Rman, have nothing to say and personnely don't know squat .Herbicide man ...lol

Sorry, your comments are so disjointed they are mostly incoherent?

Still wondering what the consensus is......

Logging hasn’t hurt the bears in fort la corne Saskatchewan.the fort has been heavily logged for the past 5 years.
It’s barely recognisable when you quad thru spring time.

In fact barely anyone hunts them these days in there.

We have two bear tags also.
Bears numbers are most certainly up and the logging that’s
Gone on even on the farmland has been devastating
