I want to purchase a few things for my future 16" AR. I found some good deals down south and I'm wondering if export permits are required for the following items

  • Daniel Defense Rail
  • Vertical Grip
  • Aimpoint

I went to the Buffalo Gun Centre and was told I don't need any paperwork for Aimpoint. Just regualar taxes/duties etc.

Any info is appreciated.

Bear.23 you need a permit even for a plastic vertical grip?????

I guess that dosent surprise me, how unfortunate. I was thinking of bring back a hogue grip on an upcoming trip but I guess that is a bad idea. Can a US Citizen bring it back? I am assuming it is an export permit that is required?

Yes but you do have the $100 exemption on those parts.. You can't get the export permit without the IIC...

When did this happen? So now all firearms related items need an export permit?

He likely means WRT the scope and rail, which are optical equipment and regulated by Commerce, which has no exemption at all.

Sorry Bro,

Whats an IIC?

And is a Hogue Grip rubber for a 686 exempt from the "permit"?

Thanks for your help. It seems like just yesterday I was mail ordering all kinds of supplies from the US, but I guess times have changed and i certainly dont want to make a bo bo that will result in me , my wife and 2 year old stuck in customs for hours, so any advice is appreciated.

Questar sells vertical foregrips and they're a CGN sponsor. Why not give them a try?
