I know about the regs regarding moose and the partner hunter thing, but I'm wondering, what are the regs on white tails??

Example: 7 guys go hunting together for a week. One guy gets his white tail 10 minutes into the first day. Does he now have to sit out the rest of the week, or can he still hunt under the tags that the other guys have???

I don't think he can hunt, He can join the est of the guys, but just can't have his gun... I may be wrong on this one...

No, he can't legally shoot anything on someone else's tag. He can continue to carry his rifle for coyotes/wolves so there is no need to sit around camp the rest of the week.

You'd be surprised how many 4 and 5 point coyotes and wolves get shot by guys in this same situation.

Gang hunting should be allowed throughout Canada. No closed season, no license required and definitely no bag limits. Now to make the perfect decoy for HA's, BAndito's, Independent Soldier's, UN, etc...

gang hunt

In the past in BC, I've hunted with various other hunters who thought it was great to fill everyone elses tags. I always made it very clear that my tag was my tag, no one elses, and if the other hunter shot too many animals, tough luck, they didn't use my tag.
Now, there is a legal position in the moose draws for more than one hunter to share the same tag, but they must be in comunication, to prevent more than one moose being shot.

Some groups of guys especially when it's a meat hunt will agree to fill up the camp's tags as soon as possible, even if it involves some trading back and forth. It's not really legal, but it's pretty common especially where relatives are concerned.

Personally, if I get a deer 10 min on the first day of a 7 day hunt, I would dedicate the rest of my trip to being useful around camp, helping out with game retrieval and drinking everyones beer.

I would also probably make a big show of sleeping in when everyone else is getting up before dawn and annoying everyone else by giving unwanted advice.

It may be common, but it is 100% illegal in BC, and I personally am glad of that.

Best plan I've heard.:p

He cant hunt under someone else's tag but he may be able to get supplemental tags for antlerless whitetails (possible up to 3 does in some WMU's). If not, buy an elk or bear tag and still go out or go blast wolves & coyotes as mentioned. The Partner license is for Moose only.

Group hunting

More reason not to squeeze-off on the first little spiker that comes along. I'll be returning to Alberta for another 10 day hunt next weekend and if I fill my Elk,Mulie& Whitetail tags early, I'll gladly buy a tag for coyotes as theres lots of them around. I believe that to participate in a hunt, even without a firearm, you still must be licenced, at least in Ontario.
