Did you know that cows can fly?
If you say it often enough and to enough people, then people will start to believe it. It's the same thing with the .17M2. I have no idea why people keep talking about the .17M2 being a dead round. Maybe if they say it often enough, then it'll happen.
Kinda of frustrating actually. It's a perfectly good round and there are a number of people shooting it who enjoy it and think that it adds value.
It has a huge following in the southern US for squirrel hunters due to it's flat shooting performance to 100 yds.
Frankly it's a major step up from the capabilities of the .22LR, it's 80% of the performance of .17HMR for 50% of the price.
I'm really not understanding all of the negativety towards the .17M2 round.
Everybody should try it first, then decide if they want to kill it or not.
My rant is over!
I was just asking if it was still around. Nobody carries ammunition for it here except the gun shop and even then it's sporadic and small quantities which leads me to believe that it's not doing so well, which impacts whether or not I consider buying the excessively cheap H&R HM2 the local shop has in stock...still considering it but more than likely I missed it.
