I fired some reloaded titegroup 230gr from my HK USP45, and the cartridges seem dirtier than the factory federal 230gr. Is that always the case with reloads or just titegroup?:(

OK... there are powders that work well under low pressure and some that work under higher pressures... Then we can get into some more science... Some powders really work better if there is less flash space (case is full) or even better a compressed load...
And to complicate it more some powders are really HOT they will cause the lead to vaporize more hence more smoke...

Titegroup is a high pressure powder works well in 38 super and 40 ... Can work well with 9mm with a fuller case (or longer bullet)...for 45 you should be using 231 or something like it ..

I find it very clean in my .40 S&W.

There was a test done on Titegroup by one of the gun mags which showed that it had a lot less unburned powder residue than its competitors. (oops - that's in the linked article, above.
"When a powder is literally twice as clean burning as anything else a major ammunition company has ever tested, that's pretty impressive."

I agree with above. Works great in higher pressure loads like 357, 40SW and hotter 9mm with very little residue but can be sooty in the lower 38spl and 44spl. Works dandy with jktd bullets, but if using cast bullets (like most other powders) residue is very noticable. It remains probably my favorite as far as versatility and economy with W231 a close second. Just my opinion. Why be the only one without one??
Cheers

H110 in the 44 mag burns quite clean at the high end. But H110 is a high pressure powder, temp sensetive, and hard to ignite. I tried it in my 44-40, and the results were dirty, and downright dangerous in pressure fluxuations.

I find it much cleaner than Unique or 231 in my 9MM guns and very inexpensive to shoot. Powder is not position sensitive. Little deviation in velocities I have found. Prefer Unique and 231 for my .45 LC loads.

Take Care

Titegroup ain't shiny clean... but there's MUCH worse (Longshot is an excellent example of dirty)

And J Y Canuck is right, H110 does require loads close to maximum, and magnum primers are mandatory.
