Is it bad to bake steel or aluminum?

I've armacoated an aluminum receiver at 200C for 1hr.
I've also armacoated a steel 870Express receiver at 200C for 1hr.

Have I weakened either part? I am thinking of doing my 870barrel but decided to ask this question before I continue (as it is a barrel I don't want it to be weakened).

200c won't do any damage to the metal. I'm sure when they were designing the ArmaCoat process they intentionally keep the temps low so that you would not do anything to the molecular structure. That and I have done a few with this stuff and they haven't blown up.

Not sure of the exact temps but you will need to get it alot hotter then that to cause any damage to the steel or aluminum.
I have gunkoted several pieces with no problems.
 
Depends on the Alum. alloy , there are so many alloys now that you would have to know the exact numberto know the effect, for example after welding 6061 it will be softer around the weld but if heated to around 300-400F(forget the exact temp.) it will start to harden over a few hours where other alloys that would aneal under similar conditions

As far as the steel goes you are right on the edge starting to temper it

that being said recievers are made of fairly good alloys and 4130 can handle
500F without too much effect. don't worry about the chart your reciever would have been tempered from the factory, full hardness makes for brittle steel for instance planer blades they break when you drop them on the floor
 
I'm a tool and die maker, deal with heat treating of steel on most days. That temps barely hot enough to begin stress relief, never mind harming the temper/hardness. No problems, your good to go!
