Is it Illegal to have Hi-Cap mags that are not pinned to 10?

Sorry brother but you are just wrong. And encouraging or suggesting that having hicap mags or full auto guns is O.K. not a good idea.

I'm not encouraging go look at my posts I did not say it was a good idea, all I said was the information I've exposed to, these are facts not opinions.

For all our sakes please take them in and have em pinned. i know, it sucks but you need to understand, this is not just about you.

Damn right it's not just about you. Quit being so selfish and think of the children. We could all be killed! :runaway:
Normal capacity magazines are extremely dangerous, unless in the hands of policemen or other government employees.

Not a big deal, but yes, you might as well put the little rivet in them.

I'd be cautious about taking the mags to the police, if you live in Toronto or Quebec they will probably charge you too. You're probably better off eating the loss and just pinning them yourself or destroying them.

Take the mags to the police???
Destroying them???

Why would a mentally stable individual consider doing either of those two things?

Because everyone knows the first 10 shots always miss, and only the 11th can be dangerous:jerkit:

hmm in Edmonton I ran into folks who have unpinned magazine. (Even the range gun carbine magazine was unpinned with 10 rounds -USC)
It really depends on whether the provinical government bother to catch it. I'm not sure if this true but in Alberta, you can shoot auto, without people catching you as provinical gov't refused to do anything bout it.

still illegal,do not pass go,go directly to jail

contacted the dealer again today and he stated that he will trade me for pinned 10/17 round mags at my expense for shipping both ways!!!! not even worth it!, iam located in B.C. and he is in Quebec! he is very firm on this and there is a slight language barrier! so it is what it is! good deal on the glock so ill eat the cost on the rivit gun and we'll leave it at that! mags are currently disassembled
cause i dont want no future headaches i just thought maybe you could have the hi caps just as long as they were not loaded but i guess not!!!!! i apprecaite all the feedback!!!!
thanks everyone!

He wants YOU to pay for shipping? Uh no.

He's the asshat who's breaking the law, and by extension causing YOU to break the law by selling you a prohibited device. Did you not explain that to him?

Screw him - post his name and maybe someone who speaks French can explain it to him before the SQ is on his arse shutting down his store.

Buy a rivet gun - all real men should have one anyway!

x2, I would not conceal the name of his company based upon the fact that he knowingly sold you an unpinned 17 round mag...he is hurting the rest of the community in the end and the more people cover for dealers the worse it looks on us

You would be doing him a favour by destroying hi cap mags or sending them back to him and accepting to receive LEGAL capacity magazines.
All shipping done at his cost.

Out of principle, if he does not see it that way, I would contact RCMP, CFO and anyone else who might assist in taking this crook out of business and into government provided lodgings.

Matter of fact, if you do NOT do it, you are complicit in his illegal activities, as you have just purchased, received and kept illegal items.

Getting them was not your fault, but accepting it and not taking the action to correct this IS your responsibility.

I want you to understand that this post is not meant to scare you or attack you, but prod you into doing what is right.

I don't quite understand what the panic is all about. It takes a few minutes of google to find out how to pin it, a trip to crappy tire and 5 minutes each magazine to pin.

I have bought magazines where the seller asked me if I wanted them pinned or not. Sure, pin them I said, but this is not enough for me to make a big deal out of it, personally to him or on this forum.

I am sure there are many unpinned mags floating around, many people importing mags unpinned, some know, some not, some import them, pin them and sell them for a profit, some don't bother.

It is your responsibility to be within the law, not that I think I would go to jail for that but because I respect the law and don't want to face the consequences if not (like having my firearms confiscated).

Why even mention the police?

This is a paper crime, no different than possessing a gun without a license, which currently hundreds of thousands of Canadians are doing.

If you want to be legal than pin the mags. If you don't, than I guess you just joined a growing club of brave Canadians who are resisting government stupidity.

I really enjoy your "as long as no one with any authority ever sees these" concept. That's kinda like saying "Is Theft/Murder/Speeding/Whatever still illegal if no one catches me doing it?"

The big difference is that theft, murder, etc. hurts other people, but having NORMAL capacity mags hurts absolutely nobody.

That being said, get them pinned.

We don't have lots of firearms sellers here in QC... PM me his name and I can give him a call.. in French

What makes me laugh is the fact that the politicians haven't realized that all the criminals need to do is spend 3 seconds with a drill and the magazine then becomes capable of evildoing. But then, most politicians aren't burdened with things like logic.

Erik.

True Erik, but politicians need to realize that criminals don't buy their magazines neutered or otherwise from the stores, they get them from the black market at normal capacity with their illegal guns. So once again, the law does nothing but harass the law-abiding firearms owner and impact not at all on the criminal.

thanks for the info everyone my brother has now disassembled for the mags for the time being..........i called the dealer and he stated "this is the way he received them and it is up to me to pin them" what a crock of s**t he has now caused more work by having to go out and buy a rivit gun and rivits!!!!! what a joke! my brother is pissed!!!! will ask for compensation if we every order from him again!!!! which i doubt will ever happen after that a**hole comment!

Report him, do NOT pass go.

I would be callin the RCMP if this asshat dealer gave me grief about such things. As a matter of fact I would question anything that even came from him being legal. There is not a single dealer in Canada that does not know that these mags are prohibited devices, and this idiot just put you in a potentially dangerous situation. He now has no remorse and pretty much tells you to f ck yourself? WTF? Out the name of the dealer please so that no one here ever buys from this douchbag!!!!!!!

Yes you must let us know who this is as more and more of us buy our firearms online. Just think how bad you would feel if someone on here bought a gun from this guy and then got pinched for his screw up on the mags, and then lost everything they have.

Why are you panicking, you are not doing anything wrong, and you do not need to protect dealer from justice system.

How about calling CFO and RCMP and reporting the dealer for selling prohibited items?

After that call dealer and ask him to send you legal capacity magazines, because you had to turn in ones that he sold you to RCMP and give them dealers name and address.

Well he should panic a bit, since it will be his arse in the slammer, and all his guns getting scratched and abused because of the dealers gross misconduct.

UNACCEPTABLE. Are you a member of the CSSA or NFA? Call them and have someone from their office call on your behalf, I am sure his tune will change tout sweet. If not, call the RCMP, too bad so sad.

Yes SB, and if you do, and he is still an idiot, then please let us know who he is.

Lord Almighty.
Just the sort of crap Wendy and her crowd love to point to and declare we are a bunch of ...................... whatever their latest favourite insulting term is.

I offer my help as well. I'm in Montreal (Quebec) and I know every store in the area since there's so little of them. If it's in Montreal, send me and SB a PM and we'll put some pressure on pinning the damn things.

Take it easy.

Its not worth it, make sure everything is pinned and not in complete form that can hold higher then legal capacity which is 5 rounds(exception 10 round pistol mags)! Really we need these laws scrapped!
