I understand that the Glock 17 is modified for the Canadian market and has has a limited capacity of 10 rounds. Is it actually illegal to own a 17 round magazine or is it just illegal to use it?

Thanx guys. One other question...
I would imagine that the police don't have this restriction. Do they have full capacity mags?

So, for the average enthusiast, does this limitation sort of defeat the purpose of a Glock?
Wasn't it's main attraction it's high capacity and low weight?

not really, most handguns out there will take more then 10 rounds in the mag. We are just stuck with the stupid law that says we cant have any of the higher capacity mags. Whats the alternative to not shoot at all? The light weight makes no difference cause we are not allowed to ccw anyhow. I like glock cause they work the best imo, and feel the best in my hands.

Typically Canadian. Pay $200 more than in the US (for the Glock 17) and get less. When is that ever NOT the case? Oh, I forgot... it costs $200 more to ship a Glock to Vancouver than it does to ship it to Seattle. Of course up here the gun has to be transported through the wilderness by dog sled and canoe to get to us so the extra $200 isn't really that outrageous.

A Glock 17, or a 17 shot clip?

The Glock 17. It appears that I could easily purchase a high mag clip on line and ship it to Blaine (across the border from Vancouver) but... of course getting it into the country is illegal so that's that.

You an buy 17rounds mag pinned at 10. If you take out the plastic block inside the mag it's now a prohibited device....

As I understand it the Canadian ones are modified in such a way that it's permanent (but I could be wrong about this). Are you talking about starting with a 17 rounder and modifying it to meet Canadian standards?
