Is it just me or has vortex become garbage?

I've been a vortex fanboy for a lot of years.

I think at one point I had 5 scopes. I had only had issues with 1 and it was vey minor (flake of something on the lens inside)

recently I have had #### luck with them.

recently:
I had a 3.5x10 Diamond back that was zero jumping every shot.
I just picked up a spitfire 3X and the turrets aren't tracking right and after 20 .223 rounds the reticle is canted.

my friend bought a 4-16 viper PST ffp this summer, and it was fuzzy as all hell, the first replacement was the same, so he returned it and bought a nightforce.
IVe talked to quite a few people that are having the same issues, bad turrets and fuzzy optics... on DB, vipers even a razor with turrets that couldn't pass a box test.


SO Is it just my bad luck rearing its head... or is anyone else experiencing the same things?

Edit: I figured out what went wrong on my spitfire....I just took it off for the sale of the gun it was mounted too: damn mount screws came loose in the riser. Guess they weren't torqued in tight at factory.

Had one DB 3-9×40. Turrets were mushy, worst then Burris e1 and the eye box was sensitive. I sold it.
 
I have a Vortex Viper which I'm very happy with. Having said that, I have personally seen three new Vortex scopes DOA right out of the box in the last few months.

Interesting... although I saw my buddy's Viper PST and the glass was just awesome. Made me pretty envious seeing as it's a pricey FFP scope that he got on a discount as it is discontinued. He absolutely loves it.

I'm leaning towards a Leupold or Sightron right now. I'm going to take my time to decide what I want.
 
Just returned a scope for the second time. The first went out of focus and the replacements reticle is canting off of axis. Not too pleased with the product now.

I only have two Vortex optics right now, sparc II and the diamondback 4-12x40. I've had it for two years.

So far so good. The Diamondback is used a Savage 10TR.
 
I had an HST-T once with horrible glass. Had a Razor HD Gen 2 1-6 with great glass, but stiff magnification ring. I put a vortex brand switch view lever on it, and it snapped off the first time I used it (-10 C). Vortex replaced the lever at no cost.

Vortex is big on marketing and warranty. They have great flagship models, but their lower end stuff has QC issues from that factory. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for and Vortex is no different. I have high hopes for their Viper PST Gen 2, but we'll see..................
 
When I was shopping for a mini reflex, I had it narrowed down to a Vortex Venom or Burris Fastfire 3. Far too many of the reviews for the Vortex extolled their no questions asked warranty instead of how bulletproof the optic was in the first place so I went with the Burris. Every product has it's detractors and duds, but when warranty replacement is the predominant topic for a product, that's not good.
 
LOL Vortex has had a high falure rate right from the start or don't you remember a couple of years ago when every couple of weeks someone would start a new thread about how great Vortex warranty was and then with in a few days there was hundreds of posts in that thread from people all awestruck and happy how they got a brand new scope sent to them with no questions asked after there scope crapped out on them. With Vortex you are buying the warranty and not a high quality optic.
I suppose I can't complain to much though as I did jump on the Vortex band wagon a few years ago and bought 3 of them and all were the higherr end PST and HS models all crapped out on me ( and that was just from range use ) so when my warranty replacement scopes arrived at my door I put them up for sale right away as BNIB so I really didn't loose to much money on them.
 
Save up and buy Leupold or higher end Bushnell. I have a 4-16x40 Bushnell elite - seems to agree with my eyes vs many others I compared.
 
17 vortex scopes owned, never used warranty. Have a few of the new models on order I'm expecting the same great product. Jerry just beat the world record at shot show using the new AMG Holosight. Have high hopes for the new diamond back tactical and the PST II, have not used the Razor as high price and weight did not outweigh benefit over the PST.
 
I have seen a lot of failures with vortex. I wouldn't trust any of them in the field. The first experience was when a buddy paid top dollar for one and came to my place to sight it in on his 223. The recoil from the 223 spun the eyepiece glass around 180 and you could see inside of the scope. Last I checked 223 wasn't that stout of a cartridge. I love burris scopes and would take one of those any day over a vortex.

I have been considering a Burris Veracity but I've read some mixed reviews on the glass quality being much better than the Fullfield, at 3X the price. My friend's PST has very good glass (for my eyes)... of course I haven't looked through a Veracity so it's so hard to make an educated decision on these rather large purchases.

I bought a stop-gap optic for my rifle (Bushnell Trophy XLT) and lets just say I need more optic than what that can give me. My eyes have issues and I need a larger objective lens and clearer glass.

Burris fullfields are in my opinion, the best scope for the money on the market. I don't have experience with the Veracity, but I like the fullfields and predator quest. People have had good results with vortex, and I don't mean to turn people away from them but I myself would never trust them.
 
I've had mixed experiences. A crossfire that conked-out. They offered to send me a replacement or pay a slight up charge to get a Diamondback instead. I agreed to that, but they never charged me anything..just sent it to me. That was cool, it ran for a couple of years on a 22LR before I sold the gun and the Diamondback. OK, AO scope for what I needed it for.

Just sold my Viper HS 4-16x44 and for the money, I actually found it to be very decent...very good in fact. Then I tried a Sightron S3. It was too hard to get that Sightron out of my mind so I upgraded to one and sold-off the Viper. No regrets.

My last 2 scope purchases have been Sightrons and for the money, they just seem to be better than the Vortex optics in terms of quality/value. The S3 is like looking at HDtv...I'm thrilled with it. Will be nice to see groundhog impact shots in HD this spring. :)
 
I love vortex scopes. Have at least 8 on different firearms.
However, my latest Vortex purchase (3-9 Diamondback), mounted to a target 10/22. After only 10 rounds. Yes, TEN. The reticle had spun 45°. Unusable. Traded back in for a leupold.
Lately the quality has started to slip. All my Vortex 5 years old or more are higher quality.

I'm considering the Sightron STAC line... supposed to be awesome for the dollar spent.
