Is it just me or...

Tradationally back home in good old Blighty even a SxS or OU when they were first made were considered un gentlemanly, if you couldn't hit the bird with a single shot you simply had to do better next time!!!

Thats why they made a 2 shot autoloader for the southren states.Wasn't kosher to have more then two shots available.

I love the marlin and winchester 410 lever shotgun models of the past. They were really cool guns and I wanted one for grouse hunting during the moose hunt. They are priced too high for me to justify so an old cooey 84 does the trick. The 410 is just a cool cartridge

Went to the gun show in Waverly this weekend, and was surprised to see quite a few older bolt-action shotguns for sale...and even a lever action!
Who knew?
Well, some of you guys I imagine...still, I had never seen a lever shotty before myself. Kinda neat.

The bolt action shotgun were very very popular in NS back in the day and mainly because they were cheap. That is also why we are the land of the single shot cooey. I have never seen more of them than here
We were coal miners, fishermen. loggers and farmers for the most part so didnot have the bucks to spend on the higher end stuff.
The old man had a shop so he and his dad had some real nice stuff which sadly I didnot get 90% of it but they were not the norm.

I remember when you could buy a Cooey in the Irving Big Stops, in the 80s...I think they were about $60-70.

I have a lever action, it doesn't feed too well all the time. It works well for the most part, but every once in a while a shell won't feed and the pigeons get away. Damn thing is 4 ft long too....

Yes they were not much for sure. I bought a model 84 20ga for 39.99 new on sale at a candy store in the town I grew up in maybe 70??.
Said it was old stock so they were trying to move out the model 84's
Too funny
Man have times changed

$ 29.95 at the local Uniroyal Tire store ... or Norwegian Ski Shop (both sold guns, as did the neighbourhood Esso ) ... mid 60's.

I bought my first used ( but otherwise like new) Cooey for $ 15.00. Loved them old Imperial papers ... and man, did that Cooey kick with all the drop at heel and hard plastic butt plate.
Wasn't sorry to see it go when I'd saved enough rupees for a 870TB Wingmaster.
