I want to go to BC this week and bring my .22 along. Am I clear to use my GSG 110 Rd mag outside the bounds of the national park in the bush or has the RCMP banned it?

The RCMP has put out a bulletin.

However as far as I know the law has not been changed. In the Criminal code. Or firearms act.

Best way to know would be to talk to a lawyer.

so the question is , do you want to risk having to defend yourself in court or not ?

leaving the 10+ round magazine at home makes sure that you won't be forced to prove that the rcmp is wrong in a court of law ......

this will get sorted eventually ....

It's funny.....this summer, all over BC, hundreds of folks that have never heard of a RCMP 10/22 magazine bulletin are going to go camping and take their 10/22's with 25 round magazines for plinking. September these same rifles and magazines will come out for potting grouse. What the heck is going to happen with all these new criminals?

Those that the RCMP see will have their +10 round 10/22 magazines confiscated.

I just phoned the CF oh and they said that there have been no changes to magazine laws. That means I should be good to go it doesn't it?

Specifically, paragraph 3 (1)(b) of the Regulations prohibit a cartridge magazine that is capable of containing more than 10 cartridges of the type for which the magazine was originally designed and that is designed or manufactured for use in a semi-automatic handgun that is commonly available in Canada.

Are there any of those 10/22 pistols in CANADA?

Law has not changed, but the RCMP are being told to seize them and/or arrest you for possession of a prohibited device.

You are clearly in the right using the magazines over 10 round capacity but the RCMP are deciding to interpret the law that says they are legal, as they are all pistol magazines limited to 10'rounds only.

Fuggin BS plain and simple.

The 25 round mags were designed in the late 1970s, they are all rifle designed magazines hence no capacity limit.

Any seizure of magazines is unlawful so have your phone recording video and audio if Police come along.

If arrested refuse to make make a statement and demand legal counsel prior to any questioning.

I am no lawyer, but watch out for yourself.

I don't have enough money to be paying all kinds a lawyer fees over something stupid like that. I have to be ready to spend thousands of dollars on lawyers just to shoot my perfectly legal gun!

I just called the CF oh and they said that the department of justice has passed the law. Apparently it's not just a matter of the RCMP interpreting the law. The local gun shop wants to charge me $60 to pin each of my $35 magazines. I guess I have to just turn them in. I'm down to my stock 10 round mag that came with the gun. So frustrating!

RCMP will confiscate anything they don't know about including 30 round remington 597 mags...sigh...If they don't know for sure then they will take it. The GSG mag can apparently be modified to fit in the pistol and thats why it is being considered to be a prohib device

I suggest you read the other on going threads on the issue.
The Department of Justice can't "just pass the law"

No need to turn the mags in, just leave them on the shelf for now.
But if you feel the need, a $15 dollar rivet gun from Canadian tire will pin your mags just fine.
