Is it possible? I see someone talked about shooting 9mm with the S&W 627?

By 9mm I assume they refer to the 9x19 Luger.

Saw some older posts on the S&W forum. So is it possible to shoot 9mm with the 627 using moonclip. Or it is just some crazy stuff?
Btw are the 627 moonclip the same one for the 929?

The 627 V-comp and the normal 627 are basically the same gun right?

The cylinder can be modified to shoot 9mm.
However; There is an easier solution.

Use a case trimmer to shorten your .38-Special brass to .850" overall length.
Then reload using normal .38-Special load data.

They will drop in and eject from your gun just as easily as 9mm.

Yes I have done this.
It was actually the thing to do before the 929 existed.

Most guys competing with the 627 run 38 Short Colt. Essentially a 9mm
Assume the factory moonclips would work with it.

Started shooting with a 625, 5inch, N Frame, full underlug. For me a 627 V Comp (remove the comp) would be perfect, also 5inch, N Frame, full underlug. Feels exactly the same, can use the same holster but would have almost no recoil.

Starline sells the 38 Short Colt brass.

If you make your own Short Colt casings by trimming 38 special, you can use 9mm projectiles. This works better than using 38 special bullets because the thickness of the trimmed casing is greater than at the mouth of 38 sp. The difference in bullet diameter (9mm vs 38sp) is about the same as the difference in the thickness of casing wall at the mouth before and after trimming.
