Is it possible to build a quality 300 mag for a 1000.00... Pic.

I'm probably going to buy a Savage 116 stainless Trophy Hunter XP w/ Weaver 3-9x scope for a backup beater/loaner rifle later this summer. $700 can't go wrong with the Savage package, Accutrigger too

Can we stop calling it a "build"? If this is a "build", then I'm "building" a minivan tomorrow by taking the winter tires/steel rims off and attaching summer tires and factory aluminum rims.
It's a friggin Savage with a Zeiss, not a "build".

Now just imagine if a fella screwed a quality aftermarket barrel on one of those Savages, you'd go from like sub-MOA to like sub-sub MOA.
With out of the box performance like that...why do we bother with world-class 'smiths and their "builds" anyways.
Something to aspire to bearkilr! ;)

I agree with BK on this one. That ain't a "build" he assembled parts from the store to make a hunting rig.

A build has little to do with chasing the 0.00" and more to do with having a professional put the appropriate parts into exactly what a customer wants. Buying a factory gun and throwing rings and glass on it ain't that. Nothing wrong with it, but it is what it is. Neither is undoing a nut and sticking a different barrel on it no matter who the manufacturer is.
Personally you can't do anything to a Savage that would make me appreciate it. But I am happy they are in business, and people are happy to hunt with them.

caramel's english is much better than my french, but not better than his, if you get my meaning. He just picked a word that seemed correct to him and thats fine.

Looks good caramel, I would like to see some pics of the groups you shoved out the end of that barrel if you don't mind.

And here I just gave away my one and only chance at a future sub MOA build to the neighbors kid, a Stevens in 243. :D

Whatever words you want to use to describe my thing is very fine with me, just describing the work i did to put together a good hunting rifle... JP.
