Is it possible to buy just one suit for all-purpose hunting?

6-n-1 means there are 6 pieces, you can wear some piece according to the various temperature?
 
I have a couple 4-1 Parkas and I gave up on ever trying to seperate the liner and vest portion. Too much field time lost. I prefered to just go and pick up a cheap bomber style lighter jacket for warmer weather.
 
if you need to look up these and never thought of Columbia stores or something from Cabela's / Bass Pro, then I definately recommend the Wallmart ones. I got the 99$ one 6-in-one parka and it is quite comfy.
Now if you are going on a huking trip for goats or sheep, we don't even come close with any of them...
 
There is a nice outfit advertized in Fur-Fish-Game magazine every month. I cant remember the name but it has always intrigued me a little when I see it it look like a really good deal.

Quebec as well if I'm not mistaken, maybe some of the Atlantic provinces as well? You could always just buy a light weight blaze orange vest and where it over the coat. Would definitely need to be waterproof to be truly all purpose.
 
My only problems with the combo clothing is that they are way to bulky and are also very noisey, especially when sitting in a tree stand or slowly working your way through thick stuff trying to jump an elk or whitetail. I've watchd animals move away several times when alerted by the high pitched swishing sounds of branches scrapeing on clothing. A lot of them make noise just from the movement of the wearer moveing their arms. One more thing, It's very difficult to get colours that aren't so dark that they actually stand out against the background. Remember, deer, elk, moose and bears depend on all of their wits all of the time and unless something is distracting their attention, they will pick up on anything that is out of place instantly. Next time you try to jump a bunch of ducks on a pond, any of the slighted noise or even a glimpse of something different and they're long gone. bearhunter

It seems difficult to find anything in orange with woodland camo. We bought orange coveralls and then painted some black branches on them.

They dont look like anything from SIR or Wholesale, but they do the trick LOL!

I think the best way to stay comfortable is to get a shell that is not noisy, and dress in layers. If you can find wool pants they will keep you toasty.

Pack extra wool socks.

I bought the Remington 6-n-1 jacket from Walmart for $99. it is not a full length parka and is made in Bangladesh I believe (possibly stuffed with cotton scraps of sheets reclaimed from a leprosarium) any way I am normally Medium but it took an XXLarge to fit "OK" .... it is snuggly and warm. As for 6-n-1, I am buggered if I can figure out how they come up with that...there are only two pieces - a liner and a shell....of course the liner does allow you to unzip the arms to become a vest apparently.... so maybe it is:
1) Shell only
2) Liner only
3) Shell and Liner
4) Liner without arms (eg vest) only
5) Shell and liner (sans arms)...not sure why you would do this, and
6) Leave the ruddy jacket off entirely!

there ... 6-n-1!!

(I dunno..maybe the hood comes off for another combo/permutation!?!? OR you could pull the pockets inside out for a well known universal style statement such as ....
"I am out of ammo"; "I am out of money"; "I ate my last sandwich and want yours", I have no Kleenex and plan to use my sleeve!")

Agree,

I don't get the parka thing in combos? Seems like a bigger pain than it's worth they always seem heavy and bulky as stated. A good waterproof shell, some good polyprop long underwear and layers of light but warm clothes that go in a small pack easily. Avoid cotton next to the skin in the damp and you will stay warm. If you are really going far enough North that you will need a good parka to stay warm don't screw around and go cheap. Get a GOOD PARKA I tend to think that when gear trys to do to many things it tends to not do any one of them well.

Heh, heh. I got one of these too. Actually not too bad for the price, it is a bit snug with the liner and jacket as one.
I think the 6-n-1 includes reversing the liner from camo to black.
