I was wondering if it is possible to change the calibre of a rifle. The reason i ask is the number of different types of rifles out on the market that have uncommon calibre such as the K31 7.5X55,6.5X55 and such. These rifles look great but hard to find ammo at reasonable cost. I have a AG42B which i love, but don,t get the chance to shoot it much do to the availability and cost of ammo(not that i would modify my AG42B its perfect the way it is).Now if it is possible a k31 in a 30-06 or 308 and so on with other rifles would be great.

comments appreciated

"...have an AG42B..." You're not likely to find another barrel for one of those. Reloading is definitely the way to go. Your ammo supply problem will go away and you'll be using better ammo.

I have a friend who turned a 300 win mag into a 416. with his remington, why he did this is still a mystery but it can be done.

A K31 is particularly difficult to rebarrel because of the design of the barrel breech. A gunsmith in the US, Larry Racine, who specializes in target rifles, has made up rifles for the US National Match course of fire based on K31s. He uses the stump of the original barrel as a collar into which the new .303 barrel is fitted. The detachable magazine and quick action make the K31 action a natural for the rapid fire stages in the course of fire. A basic K31 in the US retailed for just over $100, so the resulting rifle was quite reasonably priced.
Have a look at ww w.lprgunsmith.com
