Hey guys,

I recently got my RPAL, and I'm considering a 22LR pistol. I have some experience with shotguns and clay shooting but am limited in my knowledge of pistols. I have a pistol in mind and I see it listed on the EE, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to buy something sight unseen as it's not available locally. I know there is a reputation system in place, but is there anything else I can/should do to avoid getting scammed/ripped off?

Thanks in advance,

Thanks, I had a feeling it would be here somewhere but I couldn't find it.

Besides the mechanics of EE, is there anything I should ask the seller to show me about the gun before pulling the trigger? I can't really ask them to take a picture down the barrel, so are there any standard questions I should be asking?

I as well as others like to ask the seller to take specific pictures...i.e. a picture showing the firearm and todays newspaper or some object that you pick, also if there are any wearable parts you are concered about tell him to send you some close up pics of whatever those parts may be.

you can ask for pics of anything extra you want, if the seller wants to sell, they will do it. but many cant be bothered to do extra work for just a potential buyer. hell some are too lazy/ technologically impaired to post even 1 pic

if someone has a high trader rating, they are less likely to scam you. if some one has a 0 or 1 trader rating and they want to sell you their $2000 desert eagle or $3000 HK then you might want to consider going through extra steps to make sure they are legitimate

EE is awesome ... feedback is huge , I like to get someone on the phone , it puts me at ease. Ive had a few guys buy from me a on deals that involved 1k or more and they never bothered calling me ... which is fine.

CGN is the mecca in Canada for selling firearms related items , I find most guys on here take it very serious as they don't want to screw up the privilege of doing business on the site.

Short version ... I have not seen a better place with people this trust worthy to sell firearms and firearm related items ... EMT IS KING !!!

Definitely consider the potential for a long wait with the transfer process for restricted firearms, as mentioned in the forums you viewed.
Not really the seller's fault it takes a month for the transfer to go through.
If you don't have a range membership, you may get issues with your transfer if you're the buyer.

If I'm buying off someone I haven't seen posting in the sub forums on a some what regular basis, then I click on their profile, check their recent posts, check their feedback and decide from that evidence. Usually I deal with the same people over and over again but if it's someone I haven't done a deal with before but they've been here for years, have great feedback and is a prolific poster, chances are you've got nothing to worry about and CGN is the best Canadian site bar none for private firearms sales...

A reputable person doesnt have to talk to me, emails are fine , did 3000.00 deals with pictures and emails, this is a very professional forum... JP.
