Is it worth buying a type 81 right now or should I wait?

I've been looking to buy an intermediate cartridge semi for a while and honestly do not know what to do. I know for a fact that I do not want a bullpup, I've tried it and it just wasn't for me. TI has type 81s in stock but I am not sure if the rifle is worth the price it is. I would have gotten a 180 pattern rifle but their reliability seems to be bad and also seems overpriced. Are there any notable rifles coming out within the year that I should wait for?

Buy it. For the price, it's a decent rifle, as long as you don't expect it to be something it's not. When they were $999 a couple of years ago they were a bargain. My experience is that they always go 'bang' when they're supposed to, are reasonably accurate, and the ergonomics (while not great) are not terrible.

Unless u get a kick out of the red rifle style / novelty, or want to hunt with 7.62x39.... id honestly BUILD a 180 off TNA's website using the new upper and lower and all the Gucci parts they recommend. Im sure it will be superior to the Type 81s in most ways.

I would pick a T81, SKS or used X95 over any of the 180 options we have, but that's because I rarely buy a firearm that hasn't passed military trials. Now if we had an exact copy of an Ar180 then that would be at the top of my list.

The 180 is definitely a boutique gun made for a niche created by the ban...I kinda still want one though, I need something to run my ARmags in, lol

I'd just get a real nice Bolt gun or a cheap whatever -

I had 7 of them at one point, sold 4 of them only kept my original import folder se fixed and lmg.. figured it would be stupid having the full fleet if they did fall under the ban hammer

I have a fixed with Kobra and I'm happy. This gun is the best to shoot surplus and it can ring steel out to 300m. SKS are good rifles but detachable mags are way better than 5rds on stripper clips.

T81 is great if you want to scratch that AK47 Communist itch. They are $400 rifles priced at $1200 but that's what it takes to get them into our hands.

My WS-MCR rifles continue to impress me. Now that there are plenty of upgrades and aftermarket stuff available for them I think they are even more desirable.

Those new R18 rifles seem appealing for those that may want to take a MCR and customize it, the R18 is already done.

I'm not really a bulllpup fan either,, but I've owned and used a few. Other than the fact that it was robust and tough as nails i wasn't a big fan of the original Tavor 21 but the X95 is great. Really like it.

But yeah, if you have a commie craving, the T81 is a good way to fill that void. :)
