Is it worth getting a pistol?

You start with one and 6 months later you have a lot more than one... And avoid Glock... JP.

Yes, avoid Glock at all costs because if you buy one you'll realize they're not the POS the ignorant minds on this board make it seem to be, you'll want to get another, then another... That #### has no ending.

LOL,
true story.

go to your local range and ask around for an IDPA / IPSC club. For me there is no better way to enjoy shooting pistols than shooting those things.

The best thing if you have a chance, when you go to the range, ask to members if you can try their pistols, everytime, i am at the range, i have people try my pistols... This way you can find out wich one you like better... JP.

Handguns allow you to get into more shooting sports like IPSC, IDPA, and many others. You won't regret getting one if you're a member of a range that allows handguns.

Every gun owner in Canada should consider it their duty to get the restricted licence and own at least one restricted firearm. Get an AR15 if you are not interested in pistols.

The Restricted category exists because these are the guns they would like to ban next, as footsteps along the path to supressing the "gun culture" to the point where they would eventually be able to ban virtually all firearms - as they have done in England and Australia. The only thing stopping them is the thought that they might lose the next election if they piss off enough gun owners.

An MP in a close riding may look at how many Restricted licence holders there are in that riding and compare that number to their margin of victory in the last election. If the numbers are wrong for them then banning handguns and black rifles is not a part of their platform in the next election, and if the numbers are right it is.

+1!

Get one.
Get a couple.
Then buy an AR as they are dirt cheap for good quality right now!
I recommend a TT33, dirty, reliable, dirt cheap, cheap cheap ammo

It's the only handgun I own or have ever owned. It's a cheap investment to test the waters Sir.

The loopholes are there to make you think exactly how you are thinking right now. Stick it to the anti's and get one ;)

......and an AR15 lol

Yes, it is worthwhile. :)

Want a pistol you don't have to have a PAL buy ? How about a pistol you can take any where anytime without a ATT ? How about a pistol you can shoot anywhere that you go plinking with a 22. How about a pistol that you don't have to register ? How about a pistol that you DONT need a Range membership ? Sound to good to be true ?? Buy an ANTIQUE and be free of all the Govt BS...I did.

Yes you need an ATT every time you take your pistol (or any other restricted) to the range. But you don't need to get one every time, once its in the system under your long term ATT you are good to go. When you buy one its a simple call to the CFC to transfer, then its done. You may have to call the CFO for a short term att to get it from the post office to your home when you buy it if the CP worker doesn't ring your doorbell and sneaks a notification into your mailbox instead. If you want to transport it to a new location other than your home range you may have to make a call to your CFO. Inconvenience? Yes. But not a huge deal.
