is it worth it?

Seems to be a reasonable price for a used unit if it's in good shape. Not a screaming deal, but relatively appropriate.

I would say the #3 is on the upper limit, but some more familiar with it should be able to shed more light.

The No.3 was an economy model based on the No. One. I can't see one being worth the price of a new Number One today but I suppose it's up to the buyer.

I've had 2 No.3's, one in 45-70(Ouch!) & the other in 30-40 Krag. Bought 'em new in the '70's and though they shot fine, I just didn't like the 10/22 appearance of the barrel & the fore end w/barrel band. Passed on a nice one in .375 Winchester last year at $650.oo for the same reasons.

The M77 is a decent price with the VX-3 on top....... Not a barn burner by any means, but if all is in nice shape, it's current market IMOP......

The hornet is out to lunch...... I just picked up a #1 in .257 Roberts with minor cosmetic issues for less than that.....

yeah...but the 220 Swift doesn't hold my attention as much as the Hornet does. damned cartridge looks like a mini-me ICBM!

however, possibly loading up a 4500fps cartridge with zero recoil does hold a curiousity... ;)

if I were to get a No. 3 I'd probably swap it's barrel out right away. however, right now, I'm looking at EABCO precision barrels for about $425US for my T/C single shots.
