Is it worth the extra money ?

When I first got the GSG (had it shipped to my house) I was pretty disappointed with it - I've had pellet guns that were made better! But after shooting it I was happy with the buy. Sold my other .22's that were more accurate and higher quality. Why? the thing is just a lot of fun to shoot and is reasonably accurate.

There's also the Colt 1911-22 made by Walther.

No, they are actually designed and built by Walther. Umarex USA just imports them.
This is a better description of it for you....
With a family tree worthy of any Daytime Soap Opera, this particular gun which is sold as a Colt 1911-22...is manufactured by Walther...which is owned by Smith & Wesson and is based off of a specialized 1911 frame designed by Umarex, which is known for Airsoft guns and Umarex is the company that actually imports the 1911 into the US. In the dog world, this would be called a “mutt”. Don’t let its odd pedigree fool you; this gun is as awesome of a pet as your faithful Schnoodle.

I’s start from the very beginning here: Umarex manufactures and sells a Replica Colt Government 1911 pistol that is made to shoot 9mm blanks. Walther then takes that gun and works it over so that it will fire .22LR. They ship it off to Colt, via Umarex who throws it into one of their branded boxes and then sends it out to distributors.

GSG/Sig 1911-22 are good 22lr HG's for the $$. Mags are well made and plentiful for ~$25.
The plastic sights work but are cheap. I'm looking for metal "drop-ins" and considering getting the ZRTS deluxe pkg for my Sig. Or I'll save the money and buy a MKiii.

The GSG didn't stand up to the torture our new shooter night put them through, over 1 thousand rounds per month (13,000 rounds per year). Guide rods and firing pins were the most frequent failures.

I love the 1911 platform, and because of that, I picked up a used colt 1911 .22 just to have it (great deal), and also because I couldnt find a good deal on a GSG. The gun is fun, I will say that, and even somewhat accurate, but it doesnt even compare to my Ruger Mark III.

As for the Ruger Mk III, ya it starts out being a PITA to break it down and clean it, but watch a youtube video the first few times and it becomes pretty easy!

That's interesting as I have been putting an average of 300 plus a week through mine since I got it and that was last March and have yet to break anything. Should I be expecting things to start breaking soon? I also let others who have never shot a pistol use it.

If you like the Sig platform, here's a 22 and centerfire caliber in one... a little more money but you get 2 calibers with great Sig ergonomics:

WE have more SIG P226 & .22 packages ready to go that just arrived. These kits ended up being Sig .22 Classic lowers but are no different than the 9mm lowers used on all SIG 9mm pistols. These packages come with night sights on the centre fire upper. We have both kits ready to go in 9mm. We also have extra Sig Sauer .22 cal mags instock and extra P226 mags in 40S&W instock (all mags are $50.00 each). Please call or email to order.
