Is it wrong to let someone else get first blood with a rifle?

Well, we went out last night, my buddy packing the Mighty 375 Ruger and I was backing him up wiht the even Mightier 223 Remington.

We worked our way into an open field, dodging black bears everywhere (there were about 9 or 10 scattered through the field) We were after one bear in particular.

As we worked closer, we spooked some of the other bears, but the big guy held tight, still feeding behind some tall grass. We worked in to about 50 yards, no shot because of cover. Finally, he stood up, we had about two seconds to take the shot, but he didn't get it off.

Bear winded us, and took off, heading for cover, which triggered a bear stampede, that we were caught in the middle of. Pretty funny!:D

We tried for another bear, but he didn't co-operate either, so we will try again tomorrow.

I was always told the three things you never loan, and in this order, are your rifle your dog and your wife.

The only way you can possibly deviate in order to lend your rifle is to "weiner weld" this is a process where you come to gether at hunting season with your friends, do a lot of drinking and bragging around the campfire and then anything is possible.

Yes, of course I read the first post. You were asking about lending a rifle to another guy.

I assume a 375 Ruger is big (not familiar with it) and I was pointing out that there is more to the question than "karma".

It might be too much gun for him. He could develop a bad flinch. The scope eye relief might be wrong - even dangerous.

I suggest the first real issue is "Is this a suitable rifle to lend him?" It might not be. I don't know what physical size your friend is or how experienced a shooter he is.

No you didn't........:runaway::evil:

Otherwise you would know that he was an experienced hunter:
Anyway, he just bought his first bear tag, hunted for years, but never bears.

And I wasn't really "lending" it I was offering to let him shoot the bear so I coudl see what happens:

I'm really interested to see what happens when Mr Bear meets Mr 375 Ruger, so I am offering it to him to use on Mr Bear

He could just use one of his own rifles, but this is more fun, and I get to watch..The thread was supposed to be humour "karma" and stuff...I am surprised so many took it so seriously.;)

Well, my son just told me to take his 6.5X284 out and shoot something with it this year!
Kinda had my heart set on using my 9.3X74R, but he said the 6.5 was ready to go, and he's not likely going to get a chnace to use it till later.
Always wwanted to smack something with it.....

Geez, I did not KNOW that this was a humour post. If I had understood that in the first place, I would not have allowed myself to speak about the secret rituals and all that, for people to make fun of! Whodathunkit!
