i just got around to cleaning my guns after a range trip saturday and saw a bit of leading in my 586 357mag, but i was shooting 110gr bullets at almost 2000fps. but a couple of patches and it came right out.

au contrair: Lead is softer than any jacket material, and although it may not equate to hundreds of thousands more rounds down the barrel, the harder the projectile according to the laws of physics, the faster they wear the rifling of a barrel.

Keep the velocity below 1700 and all will be good.

Above that you need gas checks, paper patching and all other sorts of Voodoo.
