IS LMT DEAD ??

I see so many thread , and once a while on LMT .

Yes Questar import them, but from what I see , they don't sell too many of these

is it the price or ???

I've had my 10.5 (not mrp) for about 8 yrs., and that gun has never ever had a problem of any kind. Of all my Ar's. it's my favorite

LMT is a great rifle. I have a MRP and it's second to none. They are certainly not in decline. We only see less of this brand of rifle in Canada because not many companies choose to import/sell, and they are expensive. To me, it seems demand for LMT here in Canada started to lessen after IRUNGUNS started here on CGN and we were able to buy Colts regularly for a good price, before Canadian dollar tanked of course.

Hardly pricey, they are more middle upper of the road and are fantastic, great company that has more Mil contracts right now.

There fine.

In Canada I would say they are not as hot now because there are so many other brands available that were not 5 years ago. example DD,BCM, Troy, KAC, CC etc etc...

I'm not an AR "guy" but love my LMT 10.5" Defender 2000!….one of my Never Sell firearms.

They generally build working but non-glamorous weapons. The company's marketing effort is a bit sucky though. They are kinda lost in the era of AAC style marketing.

LMT I think are concentrating on the military and police market. Many UK police forces use their rifles and to be fair they make a straight pull version for the UK civilian use which is shows some support for UK shooters.

The UK has gone to the M16 FOW, probably due to influence from the instructors/advisers with military background. There was a buy of LMT MPR by the UK Transportation police for the armed patrol officers at rail stations, after the terrorist attack in Mumbai. That should be a pretty size-able contract, since every main rail station will probably have some patrols. The L129 contract with the British army probably helped them a lot in spreading the name in the UK and other commonwealth countries. The Sig516 also makes some inroad, when many police departments seemed to pounce on the chance to get money for their own "anti terrorist" response teams after the attack.

As mentioned, not the flavour of the month and as a result very over looked. Plus they aren't cheap.

I just picked up my third LMT a few weeks ago. I love their mrp/MWS rifles. I mentioned the mrp rifle I bought in a what should I buy for $2500-$3000 budget thread (including optics). The one in the EE was a mrp for $1350 with a Tasco red dot along with OD painted sights/stock. Looks wise it wasn't working for most people due to the colour choices used. I suggested to the OP negotiating out the optic etc. But Daniel Defense was what the OP was set on. So I negotiated and bought the less than 400 rounds fired LMT mrp for $1195 shipped. Turned out to be the 16" 556 version and not the 223 export version whith a flash hider which I suspected it was more likely to be! A little bit of work and the OD was removed bringing the carbine back to the factory look. A $400 aimpoint pro and I couldn't be happier. A great deal and very nice carbine.

The LMT mrp is nicer than my Colt Canada C8IUR. Incidentally the RCMP choose to use the LMT SOPMOD stock along with ergo grip for their C8IUR carbines much like the LMT equipped rifles. There are also rumors that the LMT MWS has been evaluated to replace the RCMP ERT 308 bolt action rifles. Also Canada just recently choose the LMT MWS for their military DM rifle. Considering the last Canadian military AR10 contract was only for 18 rifles it's not likely to be a big deal. However LMT now has their MWS with the UK, New Zealand and Canadian military.

One last thing that is often overlooked are the close ties LMT seems to have with KAC.
