Is my ar broken

no, they're supposed to do that. In fact if they dont do that then theres something wrong with it.

WTF, Cmon do you really need to ask that question.:confused::(

DO NOT CONTINUE TO USE THE FIREARM!!!

There is something seriously wrong with it if it is going full-auto.

There's nothing wrong, keep shooting it until it fails completely. Although without the ability to predict or select full auto it might become a problem when zeroing.

maybe make sure you have a FIRM grip my colt ro634 was doing that if i held it too lose (bumpfireing from the shoulder)

OR your hammer/trigger is worn

OR federal primers? I find them too soft in a semi

Might have to change the sear or the hammer or the hammer and sear. Had this experience once before. Mind you the firearm i experienced it on was doing it almost all the time. Not just when hot.

How hot? if it only shoots full auto when its hot, the rounds may be "cooking off" in the hot chamber. if it's a mechanical problem, I suspect it would go full auto even when cold.

X2...if you say it only happens when it gets hot, its because the chamber heat is enough to cause the case to heat up, and in turn the powder to ignite. i've had it happen in C9's and C7's before...but thats after burning through 100+ rounds on full auto in a minute or two...i doubt u could tap out that..with all the reloads (5rd or 10rd mags..compared to 30/200rd belts). shoot slower, and see if that makes a difference

i've had it happen in C9's

If you have a runaway gun on a C-9 you're probably dealing with a broken trigger sear, as the gun is an open bolt weapon and the round isn't seated into the chamber until you pull the trigger. If it's outside the chamber and cooks off, you have some serious issues as the reciever should never get that hot, and the gun'd blow up on you.

In the C-7 on the other hand, cooking off can be an issue.

Yes, something is broken, or missing.

Check your disconnector and the little spring under it. Is that little spring broken, or not there?

Are you sure a disconnector is even present in there. :)

Anyway, don't fire it until this is solved. Don't worry, we'll help you get to the bottom of this.
I've had cheezy parts break on me before. Recently my trigger pin went in my 9mm. DPMS no other, split right in half. Would never have known if If I didn't take it apart. So take your fire controls apart and take a look. Good time to learn stuff about your gun.

i have had this happen on my 9mm ar15s.
its the firing pin sticking, as the 9mm nolt carrier is not as easy for soem to take apart as the 223 cal bolt carrier, so most just clean it off and not take it apart, this with the fact that its a blow back gun and its bumping dirt right into the bolt face and making the issue worse then normal.
If your shooting reloads then it will be worse.
Check for primer hight too.

on the colt 9mm bolts the fire pin is spring loaded (would take alot to jam it up) mine was easy to change out and no matter how little i cleaned it the pin NEVER gave me any problems
