Is my backyard safe for rimfire? (pic)

alot of towns have as long as the bullet doesnt leave your yard rule.. best area to check is your towns website my town is now a city but the laws were made when it was a town cominety so the old farm rules apply can be shot for pest controll saveing someone or your self or at a range..

Always be sure of your target and beyond. Set up a good backstop and have some fun. Do you guys down East check every rule and regulation if you want to pee in the bush? Use some common sense and you will be fine.

like i said, i can't put up a backstop, or else that's the obvious solution. It's my neighbors crop field. I think it's all good though. I put 200 or so rounds down ''range'' today.

Why not put up something easily movable like sandbags or something? A guy at wallyworld told me he uses railway ties for a backstop for his .22.

is my backyard safe

well if you have to ask other people the question is my backyard safe then your unsure so don;t shoot if your unsure . and those ricochet;s you hear they could kill someone . and if I ever heard a ricochet when I was shooting outside I;d stop shooting and shoot at something else . if you have the coin get a buddy to weld you a shooting box out of thin gauge metal that deflects the bullets to the bottom . they used to sell them years ago for people shooting in thier basements . yes 22s indoors . sorry is too late so set yourself up a better backstop . I;ve been shooting since I was 13 years of age and have a deep respect for firearms . your choice .

You may have permission from the neighbours to your left and right but what about the landowner that would be receiving the lead. I would not shoot without his permission and yet you could set up a short distance range on your own property. I would certainly also check your own insurance policy to see if it covers shooting on your own property and would extend to cover any incident that MAY happen when shooting onto other landowners property. Accidents do happen and you may have been lucky so far. Why risk someone or something else. Contain you exuberance to your own land.

300m from a residence or 1000m from a playground/school is the federal definition of where you can shoot. There may be local laws as well.

308 backstop

well if your shooting a 308 and you don;t know what kind of backstop you need you better stop shooting it till you figgure it out . or your just pulling our leg . a large dirt pile - berm or armor plate - or a moose . period . :dancingbanana:
