I acquired a K98 German Mauser a few years ago and have not spent to much time shooting it, mostly since the ammo is hard to come by, and expensive. It is a sporter, done by Churchhill Gun Makers in England, and the research which i have done, leads me to believe it was originally produced in the Mauser factory in Oberndorf in 1937. it has matching numbers on the bolt and receiver, but the floor plate and sights have different numbers. iv shot it a bit and seems to shoot fine, the trigger pull is awesome!

Im torn, between keeping the rifle as a hunting rifle, or selling it and buying a hunting rifle like a rem 700, or savage axis, what is something like this worth??

Good ammo can be found for a good price

Sellier & Bellot 8x57 is loaded to full CIP spec and is $7 cheaper than Federal or Winchester 8mm Mauser ammo. Of which is excessively underloaded.

Keep it.

You all make very good points. i havnt took the time to shoot some paper with it yet, but i was smacking a gong(12'') at 150 yards almost every time. ill go some shots on paper and report.
