My buddy offered it to me and I honestly knew nothing about it other than it was the nicest looking one I had seen so I couldn't pass it up.

When I got it home I tried to research it a little and can't even find much mention of this combination.

It's a AE XTR in 30-30 with no cross bolt safety. Gorgeous wood and checkering, I should take some pics...

No. It is not rare. It is, however, a really nice rifle. I like the checkered stock on the XTR and I really like the angle-eject Win 94's, all the classic looks of the '94 carbine but also easy and practical to scope. I also abhor cross-bolt safeties.
Good score.

That's fine by me, I bought it cause it was nice and seemed like a good price. Started wondering how rare it was when all the ones I saw online had the cross bolt...

By all means, take some good picks of 'er. Just seen one on Guns America in mint
shape for $750.00, but it had a high comb butt stock. My G&A annual from 1989
showed the gun price back then for $289.oo for a straight comb model.
Winchester values can be a ##### to figure out depending on year of
manufacture and by which company/conglomorate built them at the time.

Happy Searching.

Nice, this has the high comb, part of what I liked about it. I guess I did alright for $300... it was a spur of the moment purchase.

I immediately acquired a Bushnell 3200 Elite 2-7x32 that looks right at home on top.
