I recently got my photo taken at Costco for my PAL. When I came home, I found that my head is too big, the face measures a bit over 35mm instead of 30mm as it says in the instructions (the 35mm is not including my neck or anything). Is this a problem? Should I go back and complain?

You can complain now to a store you can walk into or you can complain in 2 months when they get around to telling you you need to restart your application. Better to avoid hassle by getting it right now. Although I don't have the pic req's in front of me.

Save yourself the $$ and have someone take the photo with a digital camera. Then use Photoshop (or whatever) to make it the exact size you need. You can then turn around and go to Costco, Walmart or any photo "studio" and have it printed out. Oh heck, you can even add a thin red/black border around the exact area to use, and cut it out of the photo yourself.

I had my wife take a picture of me, in front of a beige wall. I did all the work myself and then printed it out on photo paper, on my inkjet printer at home. The CFC had no problems with it.

X2 they took everyones picture in my class. Took about 30 min to do the whole class of about 12 people

FWIW...When I sent in my application the first time for just a NR license I was all worried and spent the time getting a "proper" photo. When I did it the second time my instructor took a picture of me with one of those old school polaroid cameras. The CFC had no problem with it and the picture he took is the one on my current license. If it is a half decent picture focusing mainly on your face I don't think they care, despite the paperwork giving specific measurements.

My photo was a picture of me sitting on a boadwalk in Fundy National Park (you can't see the beer in my hand :p) that I took scissors to. It got accepted no problems and has successfully bought me many guns! :D

if i remeber correctly i think it said you're head must be at least 30mm. i just did mine to and im sure thats what it said.i think you should be fine. they can scale it themselfs the lazy @#$$@
