seen a lot of threads asking this lately, so i thought id put mine out there...

I've got 3 pistols, all 3 have trigger locks and are locked into a locked briefcase underneath my bed. the briefcase is locked to my bed frame via a bike lock. :D

I also have a box of 9mm's in my unlocked desk drawer.....;)

beside the ammo storage, is this legal? :D

The question is "Cannot be easily broken open or into!". How strong is your briefcase, if is made of aluminum or hardplastic, then it is fine, but if not, you might want to lock your room when you leave the house.

"Rendered inoperable by using a secure locking device and stored in a securely locked containe, receptacle or room that cannot be easily broken open or into."
"NOT WITHIN easy access to ammo, unless the the ammo is stored in a securely locked container"

Trigger locked, in a locked secure container. Locking to the bedframe is a good idea, but not even technically necessary. So long as your ammo isn't stored within easy reach of an unsecured firearm (which from your description, it isn't), that's good to go too.
