Reclassification of the Valmet seems the more likely result of that logic. Remember classification is in the hands of bureaucrats, not the gov't of the day. Far better to change the act and regulations than to try to work within them in the current order. IE remove the whole OIC aspect of classification, so it's strictly based on characteristics of the firearm. Remove ATT requirements, that sort of thing.
Where did I mention anything about asking the bureaucrats? They only classify new firearms according to C-68 criterias or reclassify based on technicalities. They can't remove exceptions specifically written in legislation like the Valmets.
I was saying that the fact no crimes were committed with a Valmet (non-restricted AK-variant) gives the government a good argument to remove all AKs and variants from the prohib list (in response to "it's never gonna happen"). Of course I'd much prefer if they just got rid of the whole thing! But if that was offered I wouldn't mind.
