Is "one step" cleaner/lub OK?

I just got a "Pro Shot" cleaning kit for my new G17 and it came with some "one step" cleaner/lubricant. Is this stuff OK and if so why would one bother with the more involved 2 step solvent lubricant process.

P.s. I hope this Pro Shot kit is OK. I had to take the salesman's word for it since I'm a newb.
 
Yes, if you use it with regularity. If you are storing the gun for more than a month or so between range trips, then I would run oil down the bore. Snakes work fine but I prefer quality patches. ie: Butch's
If is a Glock or such, it needs essentially nothing, remington shotgun- you may see it rusting before your eyes..
 
Three in one solutions are often acceptable for all uses but not necessarily optimal for any. For normal conditions they work fine. If you need a specialty solution to a particular problem (extreme cold, dust or humidity conditions) look to the optimized items. There are always better specialized lubes, solvents and preservatives
 
CLP is the closest clean/lubricate I would touch but like the above poster wrote I'd rather run drops of motor oil on the gun than any 1-step clean/lubricant...

No need for multiple products, waste of $$$.

Long guns might be a different story but I don't shoot them anymore.
 
A Glock will likely run whether you clean it or not so I vote use up the all in one till it's gone.
Then you could begin to experiment with other products, Gunzilla, Ballistol, Breakfree CLP, Automatic Transmission Fluid, G96 all in one, Hoppes.
