is Rock Island Armory 1911 good quality?

thanks all for the reply, i will look further hopefully there will be an ria 1911 at a gunshop near me so i can compare the feeling with the norinco i'm pretty sure it will be easy to find a norinco to try. the seraphim armory is really nice and at the good price but the company is so new i dont find a lot of reviews about them.

Seraphim Armory uses components manufactured by SAM and imported into Canada, Seraphim then does the final finishing on them, from what I have heard they are nicely done for the money

I do not have any knowledge of the Rock Island guns, but I have some Norinco 1911s and have had no issues with them. Great guns for the money.

I just got an RIA Tactical II in 9mm to shoot in IPSC Classic. Wanted a Trojan but $2200+ tax was a little steep to shoot in a division I may not like or stay in.
Thought the machining was a little rough on the Tac II and it came with 2 9rd Act mags which will be no use to me. The flat black finish looks like it will be prone to marring but its a game gun so no care.

It has the Colt-USGI barrel as opposed to the Nowlin ramped so finding mags that function properly will be a priority.
The sights are decent with the adjustable rear and red light pipe front. The VZ grips are nice but very aggressive and I'm changing them out to Magpul grips. You need a T10 Torx to remove the VZ grips. Trigger is in the 4-4.5lb range, OK but not great.

Got about 5 mags of my 147 reloads through it and was impressed with the accuracy at about 12M. Gun is heavier than I expected. I have an STI 1911 in .45 and it seems lighter than the RIA.
Overall its a $800-$900 gun and not a bad buy. Some decent features like magwell, sights and grips. Reliability will be the deciding factor if this is a good gun and that remains to be seen.
