Well lets see.............................is it gona kill the cat, dog, chicken or kids?
Can you shoot (legally) in "rosedale"?
Do you have a hunting license?
Are coyote's in season?

"Last week, a dog was attacked in broad daylight."

Is it strange for a Coyote to do that?
Next time it should check it's Coyote watch.
Wild animal = wild people

Dog is very good if it's cooked properly. The coyote probably likes his raw and screaming though.

Yes it's common for coyotes to kill and eat dogs, if they can get them. It's also not unusual for them to come into town, or live in town or even in the city. Dogs and cats then just become normal fare.

Haven't you heard, there is a no discharge bylaw for Miller's Toronto?Rosedale is an affluent area in the middle of Toronto.I would say no you can't just go and shoot the coyote. If you did, likely the treehugging,Birkenstock wearing,BMW driving citiots would be calling the cops and you would be in a world of trouble. Bac4

Get a crossbow! Edit: Better not, some tree hugger will complain even if the coyote is chewing the ass end off his pet. Real answer, check your municipal bylaws and hunting regulations for your WMU.

Best bet is animal services trapping it. Shooting is not an option this is in a area where every where you look is house with people in it. There is no safe place to discharge a firearm in this area at all. Beyond that there is no wildlife management area this is on the south side near lake Ontario. Firearms are not allowed to be discharged within the city limits. Personally I don't see and issue with this it's in the middle of a highly occupied area of the city.

Actually there is, the part where he lives has a hill for his backyard.
The coyotes are believed to be roaming the Don Valley woods and Beaches area.

Anywho, looks like I posted this thread in the wrong forum btw.
Sorry mods

I'm debating whether this is a troll or there might actually be a person dense enough to need to ask this question. Let's go with dense.

It wouldn't be legal. There is a no firearms discharge bylaw in Toronto.

In the absence of a firearms discharge bylaw you could hunt coyotes on someone else's property with a small game licence. There is no season on them in Ontario, only a requirement that you use a rifle of less than .275 caliber in selected Southern Ontario townships.

In the absence of a hunting licence a person may shoot wildlife on their own property or use an agent authorized by the Ministry of Natural Resources. You can't go on another person's property and shoot animals unless you are hunting.

Upon firing your rifle in Rosedale ravine at a coyote you can expect to enjoy the experience of having an MP5 stuck in your ear, handcuffs snapped on your wrists and a ride in a police car to the Don Jail where you will be incarcerated potentially with a large angry man who looks longingly at your ass. There you will remain until your bail hearing.

Let us know how it works out for you.

I'm not a troll buddy, so easy on the soap box speech. Although it was a well crafted speech I will admit.

I wasnt aware of that bylaw since I never had the need to fire a gun in Toronto

So......I guess thats a no.:) I'd agree that's a strange question for any one who hunts. I'd assume the poster doesn't so it sounds like a call to wildlife control would be best. Too bad it wasn't Langley where I live, as long as you used a 9 mm no one would even take notice.
