Why is that? They didn't change the design, did they?.

If your second sentence implies they're putting in on at the factory now, then I suppose that's possible.

There was zero Loc-tite on my barrel bolt or stock adapter though, and I bought it 3 weeks ago from Wolverine.
 
No, they didn't change anything in the design. We had put a couple thousand rnds through a couple of the firs 223 XCRs to be imported. We ran into problems, and came up with fixes and design changes. Others did the same. Robarm never implemented any of them though.

For example, one perpendicular bolt pushing against a barrel when the sights are on the receiver? bolt release, and ejector held together with screws? Def qualities found on reliable rifles around the world.:rolleyes:

Can you go into more detail on what problems there were and what you did to fix them? I just ordered an XCR and it should be here this week.

The ejector was welded to the receiver. The bolt release was unitized. We talked about a clamp to fix the barrel bolt, but by that point, we had enough of them.

All other screws were lock washer/peen/locktited. One bolt had its firing pin hole bushed. It was much wider than the pin, and was piercing primers. Robarms solution was to "radius" the firing pin hole with a drill bit.:rolleyes:

This is a platform that fits so well into the Canadian classification system that I would really like to see its design fixed. If they used something better to hold the barrel on than the single perpendicular bolt, I would lover a 308. Till then, I much prefer my high round count m14.

Maybe... but thats a bad way to look at it. If the arm in question does become reclassified (and by that I assume you mean restricted/prohib), not having a long gun registry wont make any difference. If you own one and dont register it at that point, you are in violation with a restricted/prohib arm. Not a place I would like to be. The police frown on that sort of thing I do believe.

Thats why God invented shovels, gardens and rocks to mark spots.
 
just loctite and torque to spec your new xcr, right out of the box...problems solved...i don't see what the big deal is? it is the only re-occuring problem, guys that buy xcr's then ##### when screws back off should only blame themselves...
 
I have the XCR-L in .223 with the 6.8mm conversion. Here is my summary assessment.

Pros:
Looks great
fun to shoot
very accurate for a semi
uses AR & LAR mags
NON-RESRICTED!!!

Cons
Very expensive
front heavy


The pro's dramatically outweigh the con's

If AR's were non-restricted, I would probably build a nice one but would likely still keep the XCR. The newest versions don't have the loctite requirement. I have not had any issue after about 3000 rounds.
