what you really need to do is write or e-mail your manufacturer with your gun's serial number and age and they'll tell you whether or not it's compatible with steel shot, or if there are restictions- i've got a remington 1100 full choke circa 75 and remington said it was ok as long as i stayed below #2 shot- if your shotgun is newer than 93 or so, it should be marked with something about steel on the barrel- that's about the time we had to switch- you may not be happy with the patterns that steel through a full choke throws however, mine went to super tight, almost like slugs
