is supply running out?

I shoot lots, but still dont see why guys need 10K primers. How does that work anyway? you walk in and drop $300 in a single reciept for primers?

You have had lots of responses but an afternoon's practice session was easily 450 to 550 rounds. Every week, in the good old days.

Powder purchase started at 25 #, lead at 10,000 to get a deal.

ok, slow to catch on... I thought you guys meant 10K for each primer type, not talking in total. Like 10K small pistol, 10K small rifle, +,+,+..... I thought you guys were saying you had over 100k primers and that wasnt enough

Yep that's what I'm saying anyway, I like to have 100K plus most of the time. I like to have 15-20K in CCI 200s and CCI 250s most of the time, I said I get nervous if I have less than 5K of each. I can load 10K of small pistol in a weekend!!!!

I shoot between 25,000 and 30,000 rounds a year. I'll be generous, 50% of that is rim fire. But at least 10,000 of that is centre fire pistol...... I also shoot rifles. I have on hand small pistol, small pistol mag, large pistol, small rifle, large rifle, mag rifle, smal rifle match, large rifle match and mag rifle match primers...... I don't buy primers in lots less than 1000, when I buy small/large pistol it's usually 20K at a time.

Not to be a ####, but if you don't see why a guy needs 10K primers, you don't "shoot lots"..... IMHO you shoot "a bit"....

Yes, you are quite correct. I've been hunting for 12 ga target loads and what used to be flats and flats of 12 ga #9, #8, and # 7 1/2 is now non-existent. Sail, Gagnon, Bass Pro, LeBaron's supplies all dried up. Same goes for large quantities of 9mm, 223, and 308 :-(

I was lucky to get a few flats at Al Flaherty's store in Toronto. They have a large supply for just $50 a flat -- cheaper than anywhere else. Winchester brand.

Same experience here on the 12G target loads. I haven't seen the cheap flats at LeBaron in at least 2 months - and I go there regularly. I cleared out one of the last 2 #2BR primers and last 2 Hornady Match .30. They do get stock in (got the Hornady in within last week - but all .30 is gone now).

I can't tell if this is part of their regular stocking issues or lack of supply.

Primers, never under 5000 and powder 8 pounds minimun, rarely 2 pounds except for an obsolete caliber... JP.

I had to order a part from Hornady and their supplies are very low.

I haven't had a lot of trouble so far, but we are dependent on their supply, so it has to hit here.

I do have black powder stockpiled.

I was in WSS in Saskatoon yesterday and they have a good selection of what I needed, and btw the guys there are very helpful. However I also went to Cabelas and they were totally out of .45 and 9mm bullets for reloading, however a knowledgeable (HA) salesman tried to sell me .45 Hornady FTX, Lever Rifle bullets .458. to for my ACP.
