Is swarovski worth the price

I sold a Leaupy vx3 6.5-25x50 here and i can say Swaro is superior glass even though I prefer leaupy with their service as well as there outstanding clarity that isn't beat by much. If I want a heavy scope built like a tank Id go with nightforce which is a little bit better in clarity compared to the VX3 (not much) If you have funds to burn then why not go with a Swaro its the best but no where near night and day when compared to leaupy

I totally get spending to get the best. The same reason I justify my Randall hunting knives, Sebenza folder, Sako rifles, and Swarvoski EL binos. When it comes to scopes though, what makes one the 'best' is utter reliability and overall function, not optics. I'm not saying that optics aren't important, or that Swarovskis aren't reliable. I'm just saying that a scope is simply a sight, and few companies have a reputation for more bulletproof scopes than Leupold.

My favorite hunting scope is Swarovski Z6 1.7-19x42mm TDS. Close second and not in the same price league are 2 Kahles Cl 2-7x36mm. When it comes to optics I've wasted a lot of money on lesser products and have learned my lessons. As many have said you get what you pay for. The only exceptions in my case were the 2 Kahles which I got for $425 new.

Several years ago I purchased a Swarovski bino EL 8.5x42mm for my wife, which she uses 8-10 times a day, mostly for bird watching. Two years ago she returned the favor and gave me a Zeiss 8x45 Victory RF rangefinder bino. Needless to say we're both very pleased with our binos. Here again I wasted a lot of money on 4-5 different rangefinders over the years.

Bottom line, today I stick with Zeiss, Swarovski, S&B, Kahles and NF. I am tempted by March scopes, particularly the new 3-24x42mm FFP coming out next April.

dont know what swaro does with its coatings but they seem to be more scratch resistant than any other thing ive had.Ive had a set of porro prizm swaro binoculars for about 15 years that ive used every day since I got em the leathery stuff aint peeling and the rubber hasent gone stiff .They spend most of their lives on the front seat of my truck exposed to the sun. Before them id go though a set of glasses every 3 or 4 years.

optics it is like a 10 sec. car you want 9sec. you pay big. i use vx 111, as are no fault and easy. binos and spotter swarovski as the time is spent on them if i jump to a better scope i am going to a S&b 34mm tube just because...

I like the features...but are they worth the money?

That is subjective. Take a look through one, as well as others at the same time, and you will know. By the sounds of it, you are 95% sure you are going to buy one but want reassurance that the wad of cash coming from your pocket is not being wasted. If you want justification, then my one word answer is "yes".

Who has Kahle's for $425 !!??

A large US distributor was clearing out their Kahles line, and Prophet River(a site sponsor)bought up a couple of dozen Kahles scopes.I bought four of the Kahles CL 3-9X42 scopes at $650 each.and I thought that the 2-7x36s were being sold for around $500.The 3-9s sold out quick, but Clay did still have a couple of the 2-7s the last time that I spoke with him.

Nightforce are nice, but they really are intended for the tactical market. Some guys like them for hunting, but they tend to be heavy for their size. Personally, I have seen quite a few shots missed because guys were playing with magnification adjustments, elevation and windage turrets, or shortly after the shot, the shooter disclosing being confused when placing the reticle pattern.

Swaro also has a few cluttered reticles, but they make a hell of a nice hunting scope. And binos, and spotters.

Cummins 4X4 identified the only complaint I share on the Swaro line. I can't figure how they have not turned out an equivalent to the Alumin flip covers from Leupold. I hate putting that cheap Butler Creek plastic on such a nice scope.
