Is swarovski worth the price

I have always been a Leupold fan, but my Handler treated me to a Swarovski for our anniversary. I now want to get rid of all my Leupolds and replace them with Swarovski.

:runaway::runaway: Noooo I don't want to know about this....

I have high end Leupolds on everything.
I also have a Swaro 65HD spotter, fabulous piece of glass. Ya I would replace all the Leupys with Swaro or S&B's in a heartbeat if my 649 plan works out.;)

This is not a practice run, folks. When it's over, it's really over.
truer words were never spoken!!!

One of the smarter things I have done (amid many dumb moves) was to buy a Swarovski 4x "AL" series scope, one of their first "made for the North American market 1 inch scopes" This scope is the benchmark for all my others.. it is light, bright and strong, the reticle stays put once adjusted and the collapsing ocular is a GREAT feature!!

You do get what you pay for but are you getting more than you need. The ultra high-end scopes are great but is that much light gathering required? With few exceptions we don't hunt at night whereas in Europe it's quite common.

I would not buy a Swarowski/Leica/Zeiss scope unless I already had a pair of Swarowksi/Leica/Zeiss binoculars. I'd rather spend the big money on binocs because they will get used more often and for long periods of time.

Having expensive optics is like drinking expensive wine, sure the cheaper stuff tastes good and the really cheap stuff is garbage however some people still drink it (it still gets the job done). Ive looked through many Swarovski scopes, I actually look forward to it when I visit the gun shop:rolleyes: however I stick to the medium priced wines right now (leaups, vortex ext.) and as I get older and my eyes start to fail me I will be able to justify a Swaro.........I cant wait;)

Swaro worth it.

In riflescopes I would have to say no. I owned a 2.5-10x42 Swaro, wonderful scope, maybe a lttle brighter than most, but nothing a Leupold won't do when it comes to scopes. In binoculars I would say yes, the Swaro EL's are truly amazing!!!

I already own a pair of Leica Geovid HDs,and before that,I used Zeiss 10x40 Classics for almost 20 years.

Sold

After Reading this thread I'm now buying a swarovski scope, probabley go with the z3 3.5x10x42,or whatever it is.I do have a 4.5x14x44 zeiss, but the swaro is a Itch that I must scratch:p

When it comes to optics, you quite often get exactly what you pay for.

Yes... I found this through experience. Early on I bought cheap scopes which ended up keeping my rifle from being all that it could be. So I eventually ended up replacing them all. If you don't want to spend a tonne, I have found Bushnells to be an excellent balance of quality and affordability, plus I think they really stand up to Canadian weather well.

I have a couple of swarovskis binos & spoting scope if you get a deal go for it I also have a schmit & bender as well as a couple of ziess conqests the ziess are the nicest of the bunch. My next scope will probably be another ziess.Wrong I bought a kalhes this morning at a gun show got a fantastic price ,look for deals they do exist.

Nope.

Not enough magnification. BR scopes are typically a minimum of x36 up to about x60 these days.

I have Leupold x36-T with a 1.5 Bulzeye converter on mine.

Why don't they make the higher magnification models? It sounds like they are limiting their market.

I own one of each. Zeiss Conquest, Khales, Swarovski, Nikon. I would say the Swaro is number 1, Khales 2, Zeiss 3, Nikon 4....You just can't go wrong with Swarovski....Next purchase will be Swaro EL Binos....Can't wait!

For what its worth, I think that Swaro binos are the best there are. I own a pair of 8.5x42mm ELs and think that they are magnificant.

That said, I have sold my Euro scopes (S&B, Meopta. etc.) and gone back to Leupold. I do not deny that the European scopes have better optics, however, for my purposes of hunting in North America, a Leupold VX3 is hard to beat. I like the fact that they have good eye relief, are extremely rugged (with warranty available in Alberta), are light weight, have good reticles, and have a reasonable price point. I think the same could be said for the conquest series Zeiss, but I haven't used one yet.

I've owned a pair of leupold binos for years and thought they were great, until i borrowed my dad's swarovski rangefinder... now I can't stand to use my binos. The difference is night and day, the sharpness is one thing talked about here but the thing most people don't consider is depth of field. Focus on something 50 or 100 yds away as clearly as you can, then try to look at things closer and farther without refocusing. That is where the higher end optics have their biggest benefit for a hunter, they also do not get blurry when peering through cover across fields.
